THIS! :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

So didnt Stern say that if they didnt agree to the deal then all their contracts are void? if thats the case does that mean anyone will be able to go anywhere once a new deal is done for whenever they start playing again?

IF they void all current contracts it will be crazy.......or is it just void while no CBA, re-stated after? This is real messy.

Stern said contracts would be voided if the union de-certifys; apparently all contracts are contingent on there being a union, no union = no contract. However the players would then contest it in court, I'm not sure of the legality (seems pretty clear cut if there's a "union" clause but they'd surely find a way to contest it).

However they're not decertifying at this stage, they're filing a disclaimer of interest which states that the NBPA no longer represents the players - quicker route than decertification where the union disbands. I'm not sure if the disclaimer has the same ramifications as decert as far as the NBA's view to void player contracts.

Quote from a league exec, who likes the move to file a disclaimer:
"When they went to 52% on the BRI, and the owners didn't blink, that should have told them right there, 'these owners are not going to give you what you want, how you want it.' It's (disclaimer of interest) a good move, but it came too late."

Will obviously come down to the contract structure, but I'm not sure if many of the NBA players would have sufficient 'savings' to continue their current lifestyle.

I hope contracts need to be re-done, bloody Turk and Arenas :(

So what will happen with the draft? I've around a bit that they might follow what the NHL did and average out records from the past 3 seasons to sort out the draft order. It would look like this (Credit to a poster on another forum for this)

In other words... Lol Cavs.

That's true for about 3 or 4 teams Drummer. How about teams like Washington, Indiana, Sacramento, NO, Toronto and Charlotte?

People talk about only the players giving up anything yet forget that the last rights were ridiculously in their favor. They are employees and if a business is losing money they cut costs usually by sacking people or reducing hours for workers. players are so out of touch with society it is not funny.

Btw all league executives have taken pay cuts and 300 jobs have been cut by the league. So who is giving up nothing?

Exactly it's the players fault. They got a awesome deal after the last CBA was signed. They were never going to get another deal like that. The players are a joke. Half of them have been interviewed by the media and many have said I just want to play. Most of them are too dumb to be involved in the negotations and they just let there agents handle it who want every possible cent. The dumb ass players union obviously hasn't realised that it's 2011 and the economy has been ****ed for the last 4 years.

Apparently one issue was that the MLE was proposed at $3mil for tax teams, $5mil for non-tax teams... Cry me a river...

Going to the union's website (nbpa.com) results in this:

"Error 404: Basketball Not Found

Please be patient as we work on resolving this. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

How does EAD sound, Billy and Derek?

Anyway, there's been a lot of big words bandied around recently between the warring parties. Let's get onto something more positive.

Thunder @ Bobcats - thunder easily unless bismak biyombo can hold his own down low.

Warriors @ Mavs - no one can stop dirk. Lee? Biedrens? not a chance. only chance the warriors have is if ellis and curry hit 40 each....actually that's not enough

76ers @ Blazers - im gonna go an upset. Iggy to lead the sixers to the W

Kingz @ Jizzlies - any team with Z Bo will win more than they lose. Z Bo to register a 20-20 today

Knicks @ Jizz - expect the knicks to get up.

Once again though thats fault of the owners and now they want to be bailed out. We can't even be sure about how much they are losing out on since they won't open their books and we have to take Stern & owners word for it.

Owners take the risks in investing in these small market teams, it's not like before they take over the numbers wouldn't be known to them of what potential each franchise has in terms of profitability so I wouldn't think it should come as a surprise to them that things aren't working out.

In the end tho the blame is w/e since both sides are trying to get whats best for themselves and clearly there's a big discrepancy in what either side see's to be fair. Stern seems to have done a terrible job in mismanaging both sides and seemingly allowing this to get to being to emotional with sides being offended and doing things to spite each other. Kinda seems because of this things are really going to get out of hand.

Progress should been made way way prior to when they started negotiating at from that standpoint both sides are ******ed for letting it get so late.

That's not fair mate, they can't explain what they don't understand or have a vague opinion of.

They can, however, regurgitate the thoughts of those who make money off them, like their agents, friends, unions, sponsors etc.

@KDtrey5 Kevin Durant
Man I prolly blocked 60 people in 2 days lol...ignorant people who have no clue what's going on

Well, I think it's a bit harsh for KD to say that about his fellow players and then go as far as blocking them on Twitter.
