As a matter of interest.
Before a game was played this year, did you think we had a good list?
Yeah before a game was played I thought we had a good list and that we'd added to it like we thought we were a shot.

In round one we selected like it too when the 30 year old often injured/suspended Waite got a game before the future Ben Brown.

Now we have people claiming we don't have the cattle, well if we don't have the cattle why the f*** did we pick up Waite?

I totally agree.
I believe that we had a good list, I believe we have a good list. We are badly out of form, and we have injuries to key players.

No doubt.

I thought we had a good list and "were in the good side category." I thought we were a finals lock, Top 4 chance and consistent threat to anyone. Now I still think we'll might the finals (should win 6 of the last 7, but winning 3 of the next 7 will be tougher), have no hope of Top 4 and have no confidence in what sort of performance we'll deliver against anyone. The list hasn't changed, but the output of those on it has. Goldstein has become elite, Jacobs has become OK, Nahas has a crack, Higgins has been a good addition and everyone else has either stagnated or dropped off.

Waite FWIW hasn't made our list worse, he was free, it's not like the Laidley days of selling the farm for guys that didn't make one iota of difference in the scheme of things.

Injuries have cruelled our season that's the truth, the compromised draft has arse ****** us. We lost our best midfielder by the looks of it last season.

We've come to a fork in the road, interesting times ahead.

If it was up to me (and thank god it's not) I'd spend next pre season having weekly match simulations against werribee, North ballarat and amateur sides.

I get the feeling that we must look like silk on the training track, the get a rude shock when confronted with blokes actually doing different sorts of shit to, you know, get the ball and kick goals and stuff.

I know one thing for sure. Brads Scotts holds the NMFC playing list in "High Regard". :stern look
And he's more impressed with what these guys do off the field, than on it. Personally, i don't give a flying **** what these guys do off the ground. I just want to see us win games of footy.
Did we care when Carey, Pike, Rock, King, Schwass, Mckernan, Martyn etc. hit the piss in a major way after a win and got themselves into hot water occasionally? I know I didn't.
I support the North Melbourne Football Club, not the North Melbourne Good Guys.

Didn't see all of the game yesterday (probably a good thing) but it seemed like Freo simply stuck to the "How to beat North Melbourne" blueprint.

Pressure. If you put maniac pressure on the ball carrier, we will turn it over more often than not. Adelaide, Hawthorn and Freo have all done this.

We usually bomb it long and watch it rebound straight back under no pressure.
On the occasion that we look for a short option, our footskills and handballing are not good enough to maintain possession.

We need to get better at slowing the game down when teams get a run on, but we never seem to keep the ball for long enough to do this.

One of two things need to happen:
1) Adjust the gameplan, it clearly isn't working
2) Players that are not following team structures and coaches instruction, go back to the 2nds

I guess the question is whether it is Brad's gameplan or the players execution that is the problem.

Finding it harder and harder to watch his press conferences.

"We were predictable in how we set up", "they knew exactly how we would set up" "we made too many errors giving up soft and easy goals" "we are not a good side" "we're not defending well enough, schoolboy stuff"

Quite a few zingers right there, all as much or more his fault as the players.

I think we'll continue to underperform for as long as we have this clown in charge.

I know you weren't asking me Philly, but feel we bonded on the GDT last night...

To answer your Q; For me personally, nope. Just not elite enough. Even the Lions have more top end talent in the mids.

Haha I think I bonded with a few last night...
Ok, fair call.
My thoughts are that Wells, Dal, Spitta, Cunners, Jack with cameos from LT, Ats, JMac, Gibbo, Luke, and others looked good at the start of the year.
An example is when we played the cheats last week the commentators asked each other which midfield had the edge. I think it was Leigh (could be wrong) said The cheats had a clear advantage with Watson And Heppell. Lingy said "the bombers might have the names, but North miss seem stronger in the contest and more cohesive".

The above post is cheating WB. You can't use a footy forum to say there's more important things in life, there's actually not on BF. The reason this site exists is our love of the game, our day to day lives of work and death are put to one side.
But once the game is decided I move on quickly. It took me a while to work out its just a game. I hate losing and watching us last night was frustrating but shaking your fist at a computer screen and having a fit is not that appealing.

Look forward to playing the biggest club in Australia at the best venue in Australia.

His way is to excuse poor performances.

His soft stance on this group is hilarious.
Who do you want out and in. Our stocks are thin as it is.

You all screamed blue murder when wood was dropped. Last night showed he has a lot of work to do.

Replacing poor players with worse players ain't going to fix the problem.

I say drop Wood!!!
Hahahaha
In all seriousness you are right, I mean my outs would be
Wood for Daw or Brown if fit
Luke for Mullet if he puts in a decent game today
Gibbo for Kayne... To me this won't happen but his disposal last night was horrid beyond horrid and one week in the two's won't hurt him.

Nahas sub, Jacobs or Dumont to have a full crack at mid duties for the day.

I agree, but each to their own if guys want to rant and rave I say go for it.

So have you come to the conclusion we'll never win a flag again and survival is our premiership glory?

We pick underdone players in favour of blokes who have VFL form.
I assume this is a coaches selection thing, sometimes this hurts us.

No doubt.

Yeah we'll hit form and this year will be done.

Critical players get a year older and we have no apparent replacements.

Waite FWIW hasn't made our list worse, he was free, it's not like the Laidley days of selling the farm for guys that didn't make one iota of difference in the scheme of things.

Injuries have cruelled our season that's the truth, the compromised draft has arse stuffed us. We lost our best midfielder by the looks of it last season.

We've come to a fork in the road, interesting times ahead.
Cost us nothing but got a game in front of the future, there are mistakes we cannot afford being made.

We have a coach that picks underdone players and sticks steadfast to a game plan that apparently not all players can execute.

I don't think we have the cattle to execute what we are trying to consistently agaisnt high caliber teams.

Interesting times indeed, we are going to get to a point where something has gotta give, I would think that we get to that point and Brad will be gone.

Watie was rumoured to be carrying something in the lead up to last night, do we drop him and play Maj who has VFL form? Nah we stick with Waite.

JMac has an achillies issue, plays limited football for a month and is a straight inclusion into the team.

McMahon would need to kill someone to get a game.

Dumont has one of the most exicitng debuts as sub, shows poise and a bit of class and what do we do? On the back of it we drop him.

Yeah stocks are thin but we tend to carry some scared cows.

Who are these players with VFL form?
Majak, McMahon, Dumont

THese guys have been playing quality footy in the VFL.

Maj should have played last night.

McMahon it won't matter how well he plays, should have got the nod over JMac against Hawthorn.

Dumont is killing it, where do we play in in the 1s? Sub. Perfect.

Cracking post WB. I suppose if we had a list like Carlton performing the way we do would be acceptable. There's an option in worsfold there but I'm sure there are many others, as long as it's not scott next year. Nothingness for 6 years.
