Great post, my question was in response to the poster that bemoaned Scott for believing we had a good list.
Well, from the inside that group of players mentioned that we recruited between 2008 and 2012, that 5 good years of recruiting which is essential for tilt, has seen the vast majority of the players fail to reach expectation.
The problem is if we go through the motions for another couple of years then the 24 year olds become 26 year olds, then it is someone else's problem, we spend another two years redeveloping with someone new then all of a sudden the 24 year olds are 28 year olds who are on the downward trajectory, some will pull a Wells or Petrie and play our their entire career not knowing any success.
I am not sure that isn't a crystal ball outcome anyone wants to see happen, if we aren't going to just go through the motions for another decade then we need a coach that stands up and demands action rather than make some sniping comments post game then go about and tolerate the same standard, allow the same players repeating the same basic mistakes week after week and season after season.
If these blokes can't execute the basics then he has to pull the pin and drop players, even send some players packing. No supporter wants to see that happen, but we don't want to watch these 12 goal rapings going on all the time.
Our midfield has less system than my local suburban league team, it is actually quite embarrassing that these guys that play just for the love of the game have more footy smarts than most players at our club. They might not be physically gifted, but they understand the basics of what you need to do to win a game of footy.
