Add to our injury list.

Tazz is nursing a crook back, Hansen strained his quad last week and Gibbo has been managed all pre-season with hamstring soreness

I would take Taz nursing a crook back for Hansen and Gibbo to be injured and unavailable.

Am I the only one to see this update as genuinely positive?

I don't want to see Tarrant running around at Coffs Harbour or ******* Narromine.

A block of solid running and encouraging strength testing results has put Todd Goldstein in the frame for a return during the second week of the JLT community series.

North supporters lucky enough to get a ticket to the highly anticipated Arden Street clash with the Hawks may see the star ruckman in action for the first time in 2017.

“He’s (Goldstein) done a great deal of really positive work over the past few weeks and his ankle is looking great now,” Senior Performance Consultant Steve Saunders told NMFC.com.au.

Goldstein injured his ankle late in the 2016 season and despite a solid break over the holiday period, he experienced residual aching upon his return to training.

“We just needed to give it some more time to settle and it has responded very well,” Saunders added.

“Our aim is to integrate him back into full training next week with a view to him playing in the second JLT game against Hawthorn.”

Goldstein is not the only one setting himself for a return that week with the likes of Majak Daw (knee), Jy Simpkin (leg) and Daniel Neilson (quad) also set to be in contention.

As for this week, Saunders stated hard-running wingman Sam Gibson would be available to take on the Swans in Coffs Harbour after missing last week’s intra-club match.

“Sam copped a knock to the thigh at training and had extensive bleeding in the area,” he said.

“He is back into full training now and will be available. If anything, he’s much fresher after a lighter week on the track.”

I'm trying to find the right adjective for that injury list. But thus far all options will earn me a red card. At least we are a few weeks out from the real season.

Problem is when Goldy is underdone or missed a lot of training (second half of last year) he is quite a average player.

I reckon he's only average when knobs like Lewis and Bont can continually jump into him on his blindside and keep kneeing him. Takes zero courage for them to do it, especially when the rules allow it and penalise anyone trying to prevent it. The new prohibition of the 3rd up in the ruck is one of the very best rule changes in recent years. Watch Goldy return to 2015 form. :thumbsu:

Based on that the club has clearly been listening to this Board's concerns about players being list as "two weeks" and they will now move directly from 3 weeks to 1 week ;)

Yes, I noticed that too. They're trolling us. Brownie has actually gone backwards.

16 players on the injury list, a few tests and others ahead of schedule the good news. Luckily for us round 1 is still 6 weeks away.

I think it's fair to say the team against the Swans pretty much picks itself.

Funky Carl seemed pretty optimistic when asked about the injury list on SEN this morning. Two-thirds of it will (hopefully) be wiped by round one.

Of that list, Brown, Daw, Hansen, Wright, Thompson and Jacobs are only a few weeks away and have played through injury for years and with interrupted pre-seasons. It's not ideal but they could do it again.

You'd hardly expect him to say in an interview that we're up s**t creek though.

Are we though? The injury list is high but I'm sure as bad as it looks knowing our depth anyway.

I'd expect most to be back or close for round 1.....we're talking many ops and recovery style injuries, not mass reconstructions etc.

Hope you're right! but if I remember correctly, he sometimes didn't even run a total 30 metres in a entire game last year while injured/unfit
