Cunners is good to go:

Ben Cunnington has been given the all-clear to take on Carlton on Sunday.

Cunnington was helped from the ground during the first quarter and received treatment on his knee after an awkward tackle. He returned in the second term and put on a commanding performance, helping the Roos defeat Melbourne for the 16th time in succession.

North doctor Peter Baquie confirmed Cunnington would be available for selection.

“We sent Ben for scans on Monday as a precaution to ensure there was no damage to the knee and there was certainly nothing to cause any concern,” Baquie told NMFC.com.au.

“He’ll be available to train this week and we expect him to play on Sunday.”

Jed Anderson is also likely to be available for selection this week, after he was ruled out of last week’s clash with a foot injury from a training mishap last week.

“Jed’s tracking very well and assuming he gets through training this week, we’re hopeful he will be in line for a return this week.”

The club can also confirm forward Ben McKay will be sidelined for another 3-4 weeks.

“Unfortunately Ben had a bit of a setback in his recovery and will need some more time,” Baquie added.

“It’s disappointing for Ben, but we’re confident he’ll be able to have a strong second half of the season.”

Fingers crossed for no injuries this week - we could actually start after the bye with close to a full list.

Sammy Wright available for selection will be interesting - starting 18 player when fit. Jacobs will be ready to go. Press and Majak likewise.

The fight for spots will be worth watching.

Injury or being eased back?

Don't know yet. My mate who watched the game didn't spot Jacobs at all after halftime in the practice match. Might be managed to play this week? Or managing gametime in general? Or potentially re-injured. Hopefully just being managed. We'll see when the sides are named tomorrow night I'm tipping

So read on afl website a few days back that Williams had hip issue, the Rat with some injury concerns and did anyone see Turner with his arm/wrist in the last minute of the game?

Waite and Cunners are obviously carrying something so hopefully the bye will give them some recovery

Depends if their muscle balance is up to scratch. If it's lagging kangatech will be all over it and their recovery will be delayed.

North Melbourne will be without Ed Vickers-Willis for up to eight weeks with the young defender injuring his PCL against Richmond.

The 21-year-old fell on his knee and the Round 11 encounter at Etihad Stadium and is required to wear a brace for the next three weeks.

“No surgical intervention is needed but we anticipate a stint on the sidelines of between six to eight weeks,” North’s senior performance consultant Steve Saunders told NMFC.com.au.

Vickers-Willis made his debut in Round 5 against Fremantle and played seven consecutive games averaging 14 disposals.

Meanwhile Saunders said Sam Wright is still progressing slowly from his foot injury and will need more time before he’s able to play.

“Sam is training now and responded well to his last procedure but the rate of progression in the last fortnight suggests he still needs a few more weeks of rehabilitation and strength work,” Saunders said.

Ben Jacobs is facing a similar time frame on the sidelines and his load has been reduced after a knock to the lower leg in the VFL.

“Ben had played two full games in the VFL and was tracking nicely. He sustained a severe contusion to a tendon in his lower leg in the third game,” Saunders explained.

“This pain is unrelated to his stress fracture but something we need to manage conservatively given that it is a contusion to the same leg and an associated weakness that may change his gait.”

In better news, Corey Wagner and Jy Simpkin are edging closer to their respective returns.
