Number of reported hamstring injuries per club in descending order:
  • Adelaide: 4
  • Collingwood: 4
  • North Melbourne: 4
  • Carlton: 3
  • Fremantle: 3
  • Dogs: 3
  • Schoolies FC: 2
  • Brisbane: 1
  • Geelong: 1
  • Hawthorn: 1
  • Melbourne: 1
  • Port Adelaide: 1
  • Richmond: 1
  • St Kilda: 1
  • West Coast: 1
  • Essendon: 0
  • Blacktown: 0
  • Cola: 0
We're up there with fellow Kangatechers Adelaide in this group.

While the cold winter factor is an interesting consideration there are 6 Victorian clubs with 0-1 listed hamstring injuries each.

It feels like ever since the club boasted about its great player availability figures, things have gone downhill.

Whatever we're doing for hamstring conditioning isn't working.

It'd be interesting to learn more about Richmond are doing being top spot but with only 2 soft tissue injuries listed. It can't just be luck especially when they play a taxing gamestyle.

But Kangatech Mate. :stern look

North Melbourne will be without Mason Wood for up a month with the talented forward suffering a hamstring injury against Essendon last weekend.

Wood came from the ground in the last quarter with North's medical team confirming a strain.

Meanwhile Billy Hartung will be forced to sit out the next month-or-so after injuring his hamstring a week earlier in the game against the Bulldogs.

However, no time-frame has been set for veteran forward Jarrad Waite. The club will update his return time once the 35-year-old has commenced a running program.

INJURY LIST
Taylor Garner - Hamstring - 5-6 weeks
Billy Hartung - Hamstring - 4-5 weeks
Ben Jacobs - Concussion - Test
Declan Mountford - Hamstring - 2-3 weeks
Ed Vickers-Willis - Knee - Season
Jarrad Waite - Calf - TBC
Declan Watson - Knee - 3-4 weeks
Mason Wood - Hamstring - 3-4 weeks

List updated July 5, 2018
Once Waite commences a running program........

I came back from my calf injury having to jog 10 meters and the walking 90. Slowly built up from there. Waite is going to be a long way back re fitness. He’s done, just try and remember the good times.

As we see yet another year possible being derailed due to soft tissue injuries - is this part and parcel of a long taxing year and its our own fault for not having the depth to see through the tougher times?
Or is it something more and basically come June/July our year is royally ****ed due to preparation, etc?

According to LuvtheKangas it's purely luck, my friend ;)

Fun fact - The NordBord is used at both North and Adelaide (like most teams in the AFL). Along with premier league clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal. Perhaps look it up and see what it's designed for before blaming every injury on Kangatech. 2 secs of googling the NordBord will highlighht its usage.

Typical of supporters to turn on something in an instant. Perhaps look at the players with the injuries too - jed, wood, garner. All 3 have had such stellar injury-free careers...

A MAN who has helped fine tune one of the world's greatest athletes, LeBron James, is joining North Melbourne.

Alex Moore, director of high performance for NBA team Cleveland Cavaliers for the past six years, will head the Roos' high-performance division from September.

In a resume that includes working with James and his former Cavs teammates in Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving, the Sydney-born and raised Moore was also instrumental in the strength and conditioning department of US Ski and Snowboarding.

An initial foray into the AFL saw him with Brisbane in 2005-08, where he met Roos coach Brad Scott.

He will work at North Melbourne alongside Jona Segal, who oversaw the plan to recruit him.

Moore said working with James was inspiring.

"He's everything he's advertised to be," Moore said.

"An unbelievable physical specimen, the way he prepares himself ... he's the first in the gym in the morning and last to leave, and he leaves nothing to chance with nutrition.

"When you see the best player in the world doing that, everyone follows and it was special to see.

"I've worked with some really good athletes and I've never seen someone that good and who will prepare themselves like LeBron does.

"There are lessons to impart on what is required to be that great."

Moore has spent the last 11 years working in elite sport in the US.

I don’t think Waite should get another contract next year, not worth it

Injuries come down to bad luck, bad conditioning, fitness etc

But also we do recruit a lot of injury prone players so I think we need to change that as we can now see what a full list does to our performance

This is why I think someone like Atley we desperately need on have on our list for cohesion

At the end of day I am ******* sick of it. We’ve been pretty bad for a long time now and this year I thought we’d turn the the corner and may limit our damage but oh well

Very interesting to see the appointment of a new head of conditioning.

We could bring Andrew Gaff and Josh Kelly onto our list but if we keep pinging hamstrings at this rate they might well end up tucked under a blanket in the stands watching training with Garner and Wood most weeks.

Yes. Kangatech is the Injury Prevention Revolution. Can't blame it for our spate of soft tissue injuries. :stern look

Lol. Bigfooty poster with zero knowledge in the area sees AFL article and blames the only thing he knows. Absolves those who actually train the players and the strength and conditioning staff that have been in charge over the past two years.

Probably best if you just stick to calling brayshaw, scott, and joyce turkeys/ironsteins as you're out of your element in this area.

They use the NordBord too. They have a big emphasis on recovery - everything is micromanaged and they send their coaches to do university units on various aspects including rest and recovery, sleep, soorts nutrition etc.

Some players just aren't built for the vigors of AFL football or one injury leads to a continuation like a domino effect. North have been terribly unlucky with Garner and Wood - Jed came in on discount due to his history. Richmond had just as many issues with Conca, Hampson, and a few others over the journey.

if the hamstring injuries were happening to the durable players it'd be a concern. People often over look that higgins was on the injury scrap heap at bulldogs and tarrant almost retired. Not to mention bringing ahern and brown back from multiple knee reco's.

I'm with you Saunder. Based on proven scientific research, current technology and world-class analytics, KangaTech allows you to better understand your athletes, and to intervene in a timely and effective manner. And s**t there is no doubt that this happening down at Hardon St. :stern look

I guess it's the analytics...not those developing the program. That must be why they've brought in Alex Moore. The same Alex Moore that brought Steve over to use Kangatech at the Cavs and then sent him staight over to the grizzlies so they could use the equipment and software too. But sure...Alex Moore and Darren Burgess carry zero weight in the profession. Bigfooty posters basing their opinion of an AFL post are the one's we should listen to when working with the players.
