I think the max contract label is confusing in the NBA these days. A max for Dwight start off at some $20 million per season but a max for Wall starts off at some $13 million which is a significant difference.

Anyway, the way I look at it is whether in today's NBA "climate" the player is worth the starting salary. On that basis Wall, when healthy is worth $13-14 million per season.

It's also part of my argument that maximum deal for DeMarcus Cousins is a not brainer. He is worth is even if he didn't improve. If a number of other teams would offer it, then it's worth it. Similar principle applies to Wall. When he is healthy and in form, he is one of the best PGs in the NBA. His jumpshot is the only thing holding him back from being a great.

It's a fine move Wall will never reach his potential because he's jumpshot is broken and not fixable but hes an above average PG that might make an all star game or two.
Will definitely make an all star game or 2 even if he just remains a slasher and can't improve his jump shooting.

Freak athlete.

Lots of people claim that PGs who cant shoot cant lead their team to success.

But Kidd, Rondo and Parker have all won championships this decade.

What am I saying? John Wall will lead Washington to a championship.

"I've never really worried about being called soft or people thinking I'm soft," the Los Angeles Clippers' star power forward said. "If anybody wants to step and take that challenge I'm more than happy -- off the court -- because I don't want to get suspended. It's not something that I dwell on. I've never really had a problem with being soft."

Wall's jump shot isn't broken. Hell, in some games I've watched he's been absolute money. Doesn't really have a 3 point shot, but neither did Rose when he came into the league.
Yeah i'm with you I haven't watched a lot of Wall in the NBA but until reading the last two pages I wasn't aware his jump shot was that shit.

It is. He got a little better last year (could be contract year effect) but the year before I would tune into the Wiz just to make myself feel better that at least there is someone in the NBA that bricks shots as much as me. It was my guilty pleasure.

Max entension for Wall was good and necessary.

Wall/Beal/Nene is enough to steal a playoff spot which is all they want.

''I play in NBA for 12 years and I think there is a time to take a shot to win a title,'' Kirilenko said.
isnt it funny? when players come into the league they say they wanna win titles. but in reality its all about the money, cars, whores, and their own stats. then as career winds down they're like "ohh, yeah its time to win a chip".
