Nah I agree with captain cotch 9, this type of "trade everything" for one player type deal has ****ed us for the last 20 years. Need to stick with what we've got and develop some talent. It's all there, just gotta nurture it across a few seasons.

Im relatively new to following the NBA closely but I've noticed in American sports they are waaaaay more agressive when it comes to trading.
Its like most teams do not want to rebuild through the draft and it seems most are bitten in the arse by over paying.
Lets just relate this senario back to AFL to dumb it down a little.

Imagine Richmond trading Jack Riewoldt, Jack Higgins and a top 3 2019 pick for Buddy Franklin....would anyone do that? Some fans may want it but i highly doubt a club would allow that to happen.
Thats like trading KP, Knox and a top 3 pick for Davis...no thanks.

If we're to get Davis we need to shift Hardaway and his shitty contract first. Won't happen.

AD clearly wants to go to the Lakers before LBJ gets too old. Wouldn't have announced it now otherwise.. would have waited for summer so Boston can be involved. No way he's coming to us.

Tank away and hope for

Fit KP
Zion
KD wanting to create his own legacy..

Any one of these would be a heap better than we are now. All 3 would be mind blowing.

In regards to Boston getting involved...
Lonzo has said he dosnt want to go to NO so is there any chance he goes to Boston and then Kyrie comes to us.

Woj missed this part..

Dallas agreed to take on the contracts of Tim Hardaway Jr. and Courtney Lee to facilitate the acquisition of Porzingis, according to the people. The Knicks are poised to receive Dennis Smith Jr., the prized second-year guard, from Dallas and future first-round draft compensation, as well as the expiring contracts of DeAndre Jordan and Wesley Matthews.

Far out that happened quickly didn't it.

Apart from freeing up cap space they certainly didn't really get much in return

The entire world is laughing at the Knicks right now.
Only way this trade isn't laughed at until the end of time is that they sign 2 of the big free agents this off season... And that's very unlikely.

A couple of things discussed here:
  • KP's injury may be worse than anyone thinkgs. The Knicks would know
  • KD would now want another FA to come with him if he does come
  • The 3 new Mavs players will improve the Knicks this year and may lift them out of the Zion race.

The Knicks knew he was leaning towards out and he was constantly complaining about where we were headed etc. The Knicks grew tired of it apparently.
Look 7 foot men coming off ACL's aren't guaranteed to come back the same player.
There was a offer to get rid of the horrid contracts of Hardaway Jnr and Lee, it saves us cap space for 2 max players and the pool of FA talent is huge next season.
I love Porzingis but it could be a great trade for us

Is there a possibility that he re-signs with the Knicks in free agency at the end of next season?

Bring in KD/AD or someone like that this off season, then bring back KP after drafting a few more young guns at the end of next season??

Or would he not want to come back now?

I'm pretty disappointed to see Porzingis leave. Yes, he was a prima dona but that's because Dolan, Jackson and Mills didn't go out of their way to make him happy in New York.

Dallas will coax the best out of Porzingis and in the meantime, Knicks fans are once again hoping that two max free agents will sign with the Knicks in the off-season. It didn't happen before; it won't happen now.
