The bloke cops a lot from opposition fans but his 2nd half against the Dogs when they were coming at us was outstanding.
The big grab he took and the dive at full stretch on Guido was sensational.
Its going to be a big year with Maxwell, O'Brien and Heater rebounding the pill off half back!

The club made the right decision in making him captain, leads from the front and puts his body on the line.

Hopefully he gets some recognition from oppostion fans

Agreed, Maxwell is fearless and in hindsight the perfect selection for Captain. He isn't blessed with natural talent, but his game is defined by the supreme amount of effort he puts in every time he's on the ground. Thoroughly deserved AA selection last year no matter what anyone says and is looking like he's set for another big year.

Absolutly terrific, that mark he took in the last was so good, and also the punch away fantastic, earlier in the game when he stuffed up the kick out my mum said to me geez maxwells played shit, and i said he will shine in the last quarter:thumbsu:, what an awesome game

I think following last year, he cops a lot less from opposition supporters than at the start of '09. Last season he showcased the heart and soul that defines his captaincy, and it's
great to see that it wasn't a one off. Our entire back 6 has more guts than most, Heater, Harry and Maxxy have no qualms throwing themselves into the one percenters, great choice for captain and an awesome opening game.

Maxy is what I call a traditional Collingwood Captain and yes he is not the best player but he is pretty bloody good. He is like Tony Shaw and Tuddy a leader.

Although we are seeing the continued rise of the next Collingwood Captain. Yes Harry is the successor.

It would be another first the First Brazillian Born Captain

Geez. We're getting a long list of successors.

Maxwell opened it up, people think that if he can do it anyone can! :p

I think its a little early to be trying to work out who is going to replace him anyway. Pies aren't the sorta side that has a new captain every year. Plus it wasn't so long ago that Josh was being talked up as a future captain, now he isn't even in the leadership group.

How good was he yesterday, especially in that second half when the pressure was really on.

He just simply held that backline together, there is no doubt he is the "general" down there, and you can see why.

The highlight for me was the full length dive spoil in the last quarter in front of all the pies fans, every one was on their feet, it was sensational.

He has really Grown with the Captaincy.

I must admit I was not a Fan when he was 1st got it but he has sure grown in to it

Anyone up for a funny read, please read what all flogs thought about him on the main board last year, i read it a couple days ago and was pissing myself :p

Yes, that one!

He made a good point that he was pretty lucky he connected or Gia would've run into an open goal, alls well that ends well I guess. :p

Was predominately his last quarter where he was brilliant, 1st half was poor 3rd quarter ok.

26 turning 27 now so he is in his peak, and has definitely improved player on the 2008 model.

Still question his 1 on 1 ability against quality, he bet Hahn clearly in the last q but Hahn done him cold a fair bit early in the game.

Hopefully he keeps it up, and has become a good captain leading with selfless actions and hard work.:thumbsu:
