I know I will get bagged for this but for some reason I cant be overly ****ed off with Brown.

I still wished he would stay, and even though the money bag taunts are most likely (prolly 80% chance) correct I still cant hate the man.

Browny was a legend for the Bulldogs and it always brang a smile to be able to see him play.

Having said that I dont wish him any luck against the bulldogs next year and i hope he asks to go to Brisbane to play cos at least it will be for footballing reasons and not money.

Gonna miss ya Browny.

Turned down a massive offer from Collingwood a year or two back.
Spot on. Granty also turned down a massive offer from Port. Sydney came looking for Bubba on about 3 different occasions. Darcy has been hunted by the Adelaide clubs and this season broke his own rule and signed early to help keep spirits up. These guys are all extremely loyal

Browny on the other hand can get stuffed

Legend??? Legend??? Methinks you have a poor grasp of word meanings. Brown will only be a "legend" in the minds of those who have no understanding of the meaning of "hero"(a man admired for his achievements and noble qualities) in its literal sense, not in today's slang. I'm not sure what "noble" qualities Brown has. His recent behaviour regarding his departure seems to exclude him from this category. However, he certainly added colour and excitement at times to Bulldog footy in the opinion of some.

As someone else noted elsewhere in this forum, I believe that he hasn't been an admirable role model for the younger players. (Not that being one was in his job description.) He often reminded me of the smart alec, smarmy athlete in some of my classes - the kind who tried his best to "be" a hero, but actually defined how not to be one. I do, however, respect your right to have a contrary opinion. I remember being bagged about my difference of opinion to many in this forum regarding his two finger salute to the crowd!

I'm not a Western Bulldogs fan, but i think you have every right to be angry if Brown is chasing the money elsewhere. You want players at your club that are loyal and WANT to be there. Otherwise, they wont show their true potential.
On Adelaide radio yesterday during half time of the SANFL match between the eagles and west, Chris McDermott (former crows captain), stated he had just spoken to a high profile talent scout, who stated Brown would more than likely go to Richmond, and Adam Cooney would go at pick no 1 in the draft - to the western bulldogs of course. Having watched Cooney play, he is a great talent, and i hope you can get the best out of him.

He is going to be a very hard player to replace from a talent perspective but we may end up getting somone who will add more to the club in terms of genuine leadership and off field value than Browny ever could
It is interesting in the paper today that he realises that he is letting the players and coach down yet left for what he considers to be what is best for himself and that he needs a change.

This optimist is extremely disappointed to read today's paper and see that Nathan Brown is leaving. No LOYALTY there and we need loyal committed players.
Richmond has been touted as his future club as Solomon may destined for there too, and they are supposedly great mates.

Time to move on.

BTW - who is Frank Walker???

You really wonder at times.

The Bulldogs have nurtured, and taught Nathan Brown the game to the stage where he considers he's now better than the club, and he wants to go somewhere else for his chance at "team success".

And the teams he has identified: Collingwood, Richmond and Hawthorn.

If we finish below Richmond and Hawthorn next year, I'll be really disappointed. Hawthorn has one of the oldest playing lists in the league, and it will be interesting to see what perennial under-achievers Richmond will do in the trade period. Collingwood I can understand.

But if he goes to Richmond or Hawthorn, then I say this. We are a better chance of winning a premiership during the rest of Nathan Brown's football career than either of these two teams.

The almighty dollar. That what it boils down to.

And so I say this. Get rooted, Browny. Shake a hand, and clear out your locker, and don't the the door hit you in the arse on the way out.

It's going to feel really sweet to see Chris Grant ascend the poduim in a couple of years time, and as I stand in the crowd with tears rolling down my cheeks, I will offer the one-fingered salute that you've become famous for right back at you, Browny.

That germ Brown has just cost me another size 10 & 12 footy jumper and 4 litres of paint. My 10 yeart old absolutely idolised the blonde magot with not one square inch of his bedroom wall without a Nathan Brown picture stuck to it and you can guess what I am doing next weekend.
My young bloke had threatened to start barracking for whoever p@@fb@y went to but after a few tears we agreed to buy him a new jumper with his new Bulldog favorite No. 25, the next big thing "Ryan Hargraves". The other jumper is for my 12 year old who cracked the *****s that his little brother is getting a new jumper. After adding all this up I reckon *****head Brown has just cost me at least $250-00.
He is all yours Robbo, run right through the little pr!@k.

After reading his excuse in today's paper one can't but think he copied it straight out of the Luke Penny handbook.

I dont feel bad towards Brown. Football is his career, and at 25yo, the coming contract will be the most important one in his life. If he can get significantly better somewhere else, surely he has to consider it.

Having said that, we should be looking at this as an opportunity to gain the quality KPP we badly need without sacrificing early draft picks. Of our 6 established stars, Brown is probably the one we can easilly cover.

Our trading stakes have definately upped the ante. Should be interesting.

Obviously loyalty in footy is a thing of the past now that Browny has told the club he wants out for a bit of extra $$$ in that pocket of his... unless of course your name is Grant, West, Smith, Johnno, Murphy, Darcy cos they know a thing or two about playing for a club that has done everything for you and loyalty among a team...

**** him and **** his (soon to be) bigger bank balance...

All is can say to him is go to perennial hacks Richmond or the Hawks and spend a few more year holding up the other teams from the bottom of the ladder.

You greedy, money-hungry, gold-digging, disloyal, pig-headed, up yourself, sad excuse for a human being... hope you end up at a team that wins the wooden spoon for the rest of your career...

Altho it prolly wouldn't make a difference to him cos he is getting the big bucks so would be happer either way!!!

Let Shaggy go and rough him up a bit (and maybe throw one of his trademark rights that Heath Black knows only too much about) before the next Doggies vs *insert name of team that welcomes disloyal, money hungry individuals with open arms here* game and see how Browny likes that!

Spot on there Stefoid!!!

With Grant returning to marshal the troops and hold down CHB, a tap-ruckman to release Darcy into the Forward line when need, a decent KPP or two from trade with Browny and the other guys coming through, not to mention Cooney and whichever uncontracted player we can lure to the Doggies at the end of the year... we will be a completely different side to the one we barely managed to get out onto the park in 2003.

COME ON DOGGIES... DO IT WITHOUT NATHAN BROWN IN SEASON 2004 & BEYOND TO SHOW HIM WHAT HE HAS TURNED HIS BACK ON...

*End of my 20 cents worth!*

Its not all doom and gloom, in fact its far from it. This is a great opportunity to address problem areas in our team structure. IE we need to trade for a key position or a strong bodied mid-field player.

As Stefoid says Brown is the star player we can best cover and while we would be fooling ourselves that it is a good thing he is leaving I think tat this can work out to everyones(Brown and the clubs)advantage.

Goodbye Nathan, Good luck and thanks for the memories.

BTW Scoreboardend I am glad that my kids wear #5 and #16. We nearly went with #17.

Dont agree with the sentiment he will be the easiest to cover.I would have him in top three. It is going to be a struggle to replace that sort of class.Certainly we could easily break even on this though by trading for a quality tall.

Rip the "1" off the jumper and leave the "7". Problem solved :)

Reading this post and the emotions and feelings involved takes me back to last year. This feels very much the same to the Nick Davis situation with Pie fans.

As in, alll year long he lies to the club. Says he will stay...
Then p*sses off.

It hurts, I know. Hope you get some quality for him.
