That women's rugby 7's is a joke. I've seen under 11's play better rugby than that.

They should deduct a gold medal for winning it. Seriously though, the gold medals should be ranked somehow. Winning the men's 100m earns you the same as winning the women's rugby 7's is funny

Men's 7s is decent. Real even sport too. Any one of 5 teams could win the gold

Spain really struggling in the Basketball, they are world No.2 apparently and won the Silver back in London 2012. Lost their first two games by a total of 3 points.

Thank god the Equestrian is over.

I think the Boomers are a sneaky chance for Silver. I think it's key how the draw goes. The Boomers have to avoid the US's side of the draw. If you can then they can make a run at the gold medal game. But if you end up in the USA's half, they as far as you get is losing in the semi's and then playing off for the Bronze. So that will be key.

Aussie bloke in the showjumping looked good for a medal. Clean jumped with two gates to go, then knocked both over to drop to 5th. Had he not done that then a silver or bronze was on.

No idea, I hate Equestrian so havent paid much attention to it.

Also Djokovic dumped out by Del Potro. So no Gold medal for him. He was in tears apparently. He really wanted to get the career golden slam.

Only 4 players have ever managed it. Steffi Graf who amazingly did a Golden Slam. Not a career one. Winning every Grand Slam in 1988 including the Gold Medal at the 1988 Olympics which is an incredible achievement.

The other three players to do a career Golden Slam are Andre Agassi, Serena Williams and Rafa Nadal.

So it doesn't overshadow other events with a heap of superstars. Not as bad in the Basketball as the dream team is the only one that does that.

Well done to the girls against Zimbabwe. Such a likeable team. Hope they can get a medal.

I'm of the view that if an Olympic gold medal isn't the peak prize in the sport then the sport shouldn't be in the Olympics. Golf, Tennis, Football et al.

Basketball as u23 would be pretty good. But I guess their world champs isn't as big a deal as the World Cup is. So the gold still means a lot for their sport

Agree on golf and football. Tennis seems to always get taken pretty serious though. If it can bring the world number one out and then to tears on exiting it deserves its spot
