Underselling Egypt a bit there. Before their loss to Argentina, they went 14 consecutive games undefeated, including a win over Brazil.

They are a good side. So are Japan south Korea etc. But surely we should be at least the equal of these type of teams.

Looking a level below more disappointing than losing

Arnold went looking for the draw to seal the deal. Moronic. Just go after the win tonight.
Had of we played like we did in the first 40 minutes of the second half for the entire game, I reckon we could have scored 1-2.

It was a negative mindset going in, it's not like we were playing Brazil and needed to park the bus for any chance. We could have given this a go.

Imagine the shitstorm Ange would get if he put in a defender with half hour to go to play up front, 1 nil down, needing only a draw and gave the go ahead for long throw ins. What a sh*t game plan that was.

We deserved to lose that game 100%.
Easily. Haven’t seen long throws since early 2000s. Australia gone backward with that tactic. Arnold is a typically old school tactician.

Playing for results never end well. Can’t remember Australia actually benefiting

They did it last game too. It's okay to try it as part of the repertoire but not every ******* throw...

sh*t manager, sh*t tactics. We did very well to beat Argentina and weren't disgraced against Spain but Arnold got it all wrong here.
The last 1.5 game showed Arnold’s fragility. Didn’t trust the players enough for a win. Sure against Spain. But yet again against Egypt. Invited them to attack

Are they though? They've been playing some pretty uninspired stuff this tournament and are very reliant on long balls to Kerr/set pieces
As long as Kerr is fit though, they're a chance for a medal. Won't be winning Gold, but have to be a chance for Bronze if things go well.

WTF happened to the team that played against Argentina?
13 years since our last Olympics appearance and it ends like this. :(

Arnold happened, team selection and tactics were an utter shambles last night.

He must go.

Slater and his buddies pushed for Ange to get the ass, this is what we get for it.

sh*t keeping from Glover.

Watched a lot of him for Melbourne City this past season. He isn't a good goalkeeper but had a very good group of defenders in front of him (whom he usually berated when he made a mistake). If he's the best goalkeeper coming through, then God help us.

There's two at Adelaide United who are both better.

I watched the last 20 minutes of Korea v Honduras. Yes, the Hondurans were already down to 10 men by the time I started watching and they were well beaten (ended up being a 6-0 loss), but Korea were innovative and creative going forward. Arnold's preferred tactic is to lump the ball forward to the striker and hope he can do something with it. We're a long way off making any kinds of noise on the world stage, especially if we keep employing dinosaurs like Graham Arnold as the head coach.

If they beat the Lionesses this Friday, it'll be an upset. On a charitable view, they're still adjusting to the strategy that their new coach is trying to instill. On a less charitable view, their coach is not up to it. Unfortunately, we're stuck with him until after the 2024 Olympics.

A huge dollop of luck was involved in beating Argentina. Them having a man sent off for two yellow cards in the space of a few minutes is a pretty rare occurrence, and I think they hit the woodwork before we scored? Spain were unlucky to only win 1-0 as they were all over us for most of the game.
