Klopp was asked a question and even says" maybe he can explain the idea to me" so he wasn't flat against it, just didn't know any context.

Good point about Klopp.

The above though is that program just taking what Todd was saying out of context intentionally to make it a talking point.

Did you watch the interview?
Of course I didn't haha.

I'm obviously missing something though by the sounds of that.

I personally think it's silly to take ownership of a club in another country and within months suggesting 'improvements' though.

I love how pundits and people like Juergen Klopp are mocking the idea and none of them seems to understand what Todd was saying.

”Ultimately, I hope the Premier League takes a little bit of a lesson out of the American sports teams and really start to think about why don't we do a tournament with the bottom four teams. People are talking about why don't we have more money for the pyramid? MLB did their All-Star Game this year. They made $200 million from a Monday and a Tuesday. You could do a North vs South All-Star game from the Premier League to fund the pyramid very easily."

The above video takes the statement out of context by taking bits and pieces of it.

Yeah, it is a bit strange the over the top hysteria this seems to have created. I thought the interview was very good from a Chelsea fans POV.

And it's not like he's the first to mention an all star game haha.

I'm interested to see how he thinks this would work.

What money trickles down to the pyramid when the all star teams are made up of players from the top 6-8 teams anyway? Then if it's moving away from those big clubs, why would they risk injury to players for no benefit?

All star games are shite anyway. Look at the Pro Bowl. Absolutely embarrassing.

The hysteria is crazy when Todd is saying to do something that will help out clubs lower down the football pyramid. That’s a good thing, or so I thought.

Any owner should be fully immersed in any business environment they're operating in surely? So they would have plenty of ideas on opportunities and threats to that environment. I'd rather an owner who is transparent and outlines ideas than one that stays quietly in the background.

Guess he's suggesting the TV money etc. would be passed down to the lower leagues in a similar way to current solidarity payments.

I'm not suggesting he stays quiet forever but he's been here 2 mins.

Also, how many other owners come out with these big suggestions? I really can't think of another one off the top of my head. I guess the Super League bunch were doing it in private but none of them come out in public with it.

It's just weird people having such strong views and slinging slurs over something they don't have much knowledge of outside a tweet with a few words on it.

I guess hes a yank and it's Chelsea so it must be bad.

I follow all the major US Sports and have seen all their All-Star formats. They are all utter rubbish with no players taking them seriously and there being nothing like high quality highly competitive sport being played. Just another way to milk fans of their hard earned.

That's an odd thing to suggest. I love American sport (even have my NFL team tattooed on me) and I don't hate Chelsea (despite you lot taking all our good players).

I just think it's a silly idea.

He was being interview at the SALT conference(haha ironic name considering the fallout). It wasn't some official football thing.
So he didn't bring it up then? The All star idea was put to him, rather than him suggesting it?

He was speaking of ways to increase revenue to trickle down the football pyramid, that was a suggestion.

Hes not the first one to suggest an all star game so it shouldn't be that mind blowing.

Hey I hate the idea too, it's just the Boehly bashing that I find OTT.

I guess how many other big 6 owners are relatively new? Would imagine following a sale there'd be an interview with any new owner to get their ideas and ambitions for the club. Just hasn't happened in a while.

Yeah im not a fan of the idea either.

Of course there's an easier way to have more money trickle down to the lower leagues.. and bear with me.. restructure the solidarity payments to have more money trickle down.

As a fan it was awesome to hear an owner talk that honestly. Complete opposite to that last one who didn't say a word for 20 years.
