Thierry just isnt having it. I think the word he was looking for there was condescending but English being his second language he couldnt find it.
A lesson? Haha * off mate.

The thing is, would you want your best Man United players playing in that All Star game? So that all the money made off it can then fund the lower leagues and the football pyramid. Meanwhile Fernandes does an ACL in a game he wasnt supposed to be playing in and in turn United fall apart and miss CL football etc...I love how pundits and people like Juergen Klopp are mocking the idea and none of them seems to understand what Todd was saying.
”Ultimately, I hope the Premier League takes a little bit of a lesson out of the American sports teams and really start to think about why don't we do a tournament with the bottom four teams. People are talking about why don't we have more money for the pyramid? MLB did their All-Star Game this year. They made $200 million from a Monday and a Tuesday. You could do a North vs South All-Star game from the Premier League to fund the pyramid very easily."
The above video takes the statement out of context by taking bits and pieces of it.

Absolutely ******* not. I dont want Mo Salah, Ali, Virg etc playing in a friendly in the middle of the season. There is way too much on the line in football. Not to mention All Star games dont work in football like they do in say the NBA where players just dont play defense and let blokes do 360 dunks etc. What's the back four supposed to do? Cancelo and Dias just stand around like cones so Son can go around and try to curl one in, is the keeper supposed to dive??
It's dumb. The All Star game is a really dumb idea IMO.
That's the other thing, at least in American sports, the superstars are spread out. You get a lot of representation from a lot of different teams. You cant tell me that if the All Star game was a thing, the last 5 years the North team would have just been a City and Liverpool combined XI. Pretty sure City and Liverpool wouldnt have been a fan of that. Basically playing an extra game for no other reason than money, where you risk getting injured and you have to play with your bitter rivals in the middle of a title race.I'm interested to see how he thinks this would work.
What money trickles down to the pyramid when the all star teams are made up of players from the top 6-8 teams anyway? Then if it's moving away from those big clubs, why would they risk injury to players for no benefit?
All star games are shite anyway. Look at the Pro Bowl. Absolutely embarrassing.

Yeah and how much do we hate those! Those players play in friendlies all the time for their countries during the season.

Yeah its just not an original concept, people having been saying it for decadesNo Rio. No. Haha.
Yeah for sure and fans hate those but we tolerate them because despite being friendlies, you are at least representing your country and they are taken seriously by the players to try to impress the manager to make the squad for big tournaments etc.Sure just pointing out friendlies aren't unusual.
Fair enough and no wonder it's never gotten off the ground. All Star games are an American thing. They are not really suited to football.Yeah its just not an original concept, people having been saying it for decades

I wouldn't mind it either.I’m a fan of the north v south game. Already seen a Cruyff14 melt haha.
Looked fine to me.I wouldn't mind it either.
But the rubbish line up Optus Sport put up was having a laugh.
Fair enough. Guess it depends if they are judging it overall or this season.Looked fine to me.
GK was down to two: Mendy and Lloris.
Centrebacks were uncontroversial. Both fullbacks were fair enough.
Both CDM’s were correct. AM wasn’t a strong field.
Front 3 has 1 wrong imo. Zaha out. Son to LW and Bowen to RW.
The arrogance of it is astounding. He works in private equity. He doesn't give a **** about the pyramid. All his ideas are about generating money for Chelsea. His ideas aren't any different to the other American owners in the UK. 'Let's make it more like America'.Of course I didn't haha.
I'm obviously missing something though by the sounds of that.
I personally think it's silly to take ownership of a club in another country and within months suggesting 'improvements' though.
any top 6 owner who talks about money going down the pyramid is talking shit. if they wanted to it could all be done tomorrowI'm interested to see how he thinks this would work.
