Didn't enjoy them because there was no back and forth, it was just City winning out and Liverpool trying to run them down.

2018/19 may have been that way, but I think that does 2021/22 a disservice. City didn't just cruise to victories down the stretch, and there was a pretty exciting 2-2 game at the Etihad between the two teams relatively late in the season. Not to mention the last day drama. Even being on the wrong end of both those title races, I can still appreciate the fact they were between two of the best teams in the history of the league.

How many times has there even been the type of season where two teams swapped top position late down the stretch? I can think of only two seasons in my time as a fan that was anything like that (11/12 & 13/14). Point being, if you didn't enjoy the title race last season down the stretch not sure there's much pleasing you.

Final day was fun until Villa choked it but even then you guys were struggling against Wolves so it never really seemed like you were going to do it.

I think it's a bit silly to try to suggest the PL is as competitive as it was 10 years ago. It may become more competitive when Pep leaves, or if Toon step up, but for now it's just watching to see how City will win it.

Doesn't help that Liverpool have fallen off the cliff a bit... Imagine if Liverpool were up there with man City trying to catch the Arsenal juggernaut 😉 that would make it a little more worth wild.

I'm not suggesting it's more competitive than it was 10 years ago. I'm saying that the Liverpool/City title races were pretty damn good, and were nothing if not competitive.

Never said it was more competitive, I said not as competitive. That's all.

You do know that Arsenal are the league leaders yeah?

From the 92/93 season until 11/12, either Man United, Arsenal or Chelsea won the title in 18 of 19 seasons.

In that time Arsenal, Chelsea or Amanda United were the runner up in 12 of the 18 years.

5 winners and 5 different runners up in the 11 years since.

Guess you've convinced me, it's always been uncompetitive.

Great posts and discussion on which league is the best etc. [emoji1474]

Hawk back to the 90s. It was Serie A that seemed to attract the best players. Well Milan and Inter had absolute stars. Foreign stars. But every team had what comprised of a strong Italian team as well.

But division 1 was still on tv like serie A. Both on SBS.

So the best players are in the epl. But why. There’s no salary cap in any of the leagues. So on that aspect it’s even.

One age old theory is that we have ancestral roots with England. Cities and towns are easier to say than them foreign places. It’s English after all. So people watch and invest in it, easy to pronounce club names. Easy to engage and know who’s playing.

Yeah it feels like it's just gone from which team can stop United winning it to which team can stop City now and we are all just waiting for Pep to leave like we were with Fergie haha.

You think they will come close to winning it?
I think they are where they are on merit, and it's a bit much whining about another side dominating the competition when they are 5 points ahead.

And before United, people were wondering which team can stop Liverpool in the 70s.

7 different winners in the 60s, so you're probably going back over half a century to find a time when one or two teams didn't dominate.

'H. White' looks like an exciting young prospect for Tottenham, played well in their friendly v Motherwell. Some people say he's already playing like a veteran.

That’s what he really looks like now. Spurs have aged him, he’s only 21. :(

I mean, if people think it's not competitive they can always just not watch it.

That's an amazing idea and I'm glad you were here to point that out, but the discussion was actually around which was the most entertaining league, not people complaining that the PL is unwatchable.

And in fact this discussion underlines why an independent regulator being appointed will be such a good thing for the league.

I thought Brian Gil was loaned out in the summer? Good to see Ollie Skipp playing well. Good lad.
