Clearly the reason behind Oliver discussing this publically is he does not want the same mistake(s) to be made by another referee and/or var operator.

VAR has never been used for goal line though, that's HawkEye and pre-dates VAR.

VAR's only use IMO is the clear and obvious (heh) offsides and cases of mistaken identity and dives in the box.

Would offside be better if they just looked at trailing foot? If completely clear of last defenders trailing planted foot for it to be offside?
