Not the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard, probably would hinder split second decisions sometimes but overall a bit of a stretch and finding an excuse for our rather lacklustre home efforts this season.

Yep. A team of mine wears bright red and we had to play a team with maroon. They didn’t have clash kits and ref made the game go ahead. The colours are similar enough that in the split second, it’s hard to always make the right decision.
