Ironically, given the COVID Crisis worldwide (which will still be around in 2022), having the WC in Qatar is about the best place in the world to host it from an infrastructure and health and safety protocol POV. The USA (the only possible other alternate venue at this stage) certainly couldn't host it now.

Even if Qatar didn't win the hosting rights to it, Australia was never going to win it anyway, some bitter and angry Aussie fans still mad at FIFA simply do not know how embarrassingly bad our bid was.

Corruption aside, instead of being angry at FIFA and Qatar, the blame totally should be levelled at that Muppet Frank Lowy and The Clowns at the FFA at the time.
What hope did Australian contingent have when people voting were being paid off? The joke is FIFA

Did you watch the video presentation ? Embarrassingly amateur hour stuff.
Did you see the Qatar one, it lasted 10 secs...”Thank you for the standing ovation, you should see money in your accounts this evening..thank you”

Yep, with every key official then leaving the venue like:

The circumstances are you've ran your squad into the ground and didnt get depth for the right areas.

Its been a sh*t title defence.

Its not, starting 2 CBS out for the season through no fault of our own = midfielders run into the ground playing week in and out in defense. Thats where our issues stem from and had nothinv to do with the club. 3rd CB then rubbed out for the season just topped it off.

Even Rio said other clubs would struggle to make the top 10 with our level of injuiries and he us very anti Liverpool.

They are the circumstances and very unlikely ever to be repeated again by any club.

Maybe don't buy glass centrebacks then?

Did you see the Qatar one? Promises of air conditioned stadia, artificial clouds so outdoor areas were cooled etc etc.

Qatar bid was 100% corruption.

Of course it was, so was Russia's.

Anyhow unfortunate deaths of stadium workers and corruption aside, it's nice to have the World Cup not in a traditional European or Northern Hempisphere location.

Looking forward to the World Cup in Qatar, yes they have had some dodgy human rights issues, but so have South Africa, Brazil, Germany etc in the past and Russia most recently.

Some people (no one here btw) just cannot seem ti stomach the thought of a Middle Eastern/Islamic country hosting the WC.

Interestingly enough Alioski from Leeds is a Muslim. But you couldn't really tell by looking at him.

Almost every Premier League Team these days probably has a Muslim in their squad/roster.

Uh, ok..

You do realise that people can be any religion and they don't 'look' a certain way?

Well of course, but that is besides the point I was making.

Many football fans do not like the idea of football in an Islamic Country, yet in all likelihood at least one Muslim plays for their club.

Ridiculous. Football fans dont like the idea of a world cup in a country where you can be stoned to death for being gay. Football fans dont like rhs idea of a WC being played in a country with a population of 400k locals and 1 million plus slaves. Football fans dont want a WC in a country where you cant drink and dont want it in a country with appalling human rights to this very day.

The religion of the country is irrelevant.

Seeing more and more say that the quadruple should be the minimum expectation for us this year. Absolutely deluded, a few months ago we were in crisis and Pep was a bald fraud. We even had journos six months ago say that KDB had to force a move to Liverpool to achieve his football goals. Ridiculous.

A league title and that is very successful season. Anything more is a bonus.

CL is a must really. With the amount Pep has spent.

You do not get stoned for death for being gay in Qatar.

And there will be Alcohol served at venues at Qatar.

And You are talking utter trash about 1 million slaves.

Your ignorance of that country and it's culture is disappointing but atypical of so many supporters against the Qatari WC.

Where was all the outrage over gay rights at the Russian WC, where under Putin's orders, known homosexuals are locked up ?

If you are not Islamaphobic, you are certainly guilty of being a hypocrite and ignorant.

Lol you havent read the Russian threads in the general forum.

My sister in laws father was a consulting engineer in Qatar. He was treated like s**t and yes slavery is widespread in Qatar. He had to lie about going home for a holiday to quit working because authorities seize your passport when you try and leave the country for good.

Slaves live in poor conditions in camps and work under the Kafala system. Why you bring up religion is bizarre, this is the reality of Qatar. It is not a suitable country for a major sporting event end of story. Russia was much more suitable despite all its problems. Iran & Saudi Arabia were much more suitable hosts than Qatar.

I'm sorry Elmer but this is a really, really bad take. That bit about the appearance of Islamic players and their prevalence in football teams is just such a bizarre and unnecessary thing to say as well.
