Could you imagine, that would be the glazers in a nutshell. Join a club at their peak only to tarnish it then sell up and move onto another club in peak form.Once the glazers own them, they’ll appoint Ed Woodward, John Murtough and Richard Arnold, happy days for pool fans.
No way is Zidane overrated.
He was an elite player.Very controversial opinion but I think he is a little bit.
Don't get me wrong, he's one of my all time favourites (I had a poster of him on my wall growing up), but he's often mentioned as one of the top few players to have ever played the game. I feel like his easy on the eye style and WC Final heroics have led to him being somewhat overrated when he's held up as one of the GOAT's. If he played in today's era of social media hot takes I'm sure there'd actually be plenty of fans calling him overrated as he actually was prone to being fairly erratic with his performances. I feel dirty writing that because I really do rate him highly, I just think that as time goes by it feels like people have an overly romanticised memory of him.
The name that stood out the most to me on that list was Drogba. It reeks of people using goal tallies to judge a player because I don't know how you could watch the impact that Drogba had on that Chelsea side and think that he was overrated. Not always a great goal scorer but he was a phenomenal player.

He was an elite player.
I think someone like Ronaldinho's best was better, but Zidane was consistently excellent until he retired. And winning the WC off your own head and then dragging your team to another final is no mean feat.

Zidane won Serie A, La Liga, CL, World Cup, Euros and Ballon Dors. There really are not any words left to describe just how good is he. The most complete modern day player. It's a shame that he was relatively a late starter (didn't leave Bordeaux until 24) and called it quits early at 34 years old while still performing at the highest level.
The most complete player of the modern era. It's a shame he didn't have pace although that would almost mean he would be a cheat code lol.
You must have missed the bit where I said he was one of my all time favourite players. I know just how elite he was. I still regularly watch old matches with that 98-2000 French side just because of him.
I do think he was elite and a modern great. I'm just saying that I think putting him in the conversation as one of the very greatest to have ever played the game (as is common these days) is slightly overrating him. That's all.
I met Zizou at an open training session at Bob Jane Stadium prior to Australia playing France in a friendly back in 2001. Best moment of my football life!!
I can tell you the bloke is an absolute legend! Very down to earth. It helped that I can speak some French through having a French background.
Completely agree, he is not a top 5-6 player of all time.Oh I agree, as I said he's one of my very favourites. I meant more that his name is often mentioned these days as one of the top 5-6 players to have ever played the game and that is over rating him IMO. It feels like his legend is growing with time.
He was a cheat code without top end speed. That's how ****ing good he was.Zidane won Serie A, La Liga, CL, World Cup, Euros and Ballon Dors. Not top 5 to have ever played the game but he'd be in the convo for top 5 players to watch play the game. He had everything bar top end speed but he didn't need it. Loved a big game too.Oh I agree, as I said he's one of my very favourites. I feel like we could talk about players from that era for hours!Absolutely. Alongside Totti, Ronaldo (R9), & Bergkamp for me in terms of the players I loved watching the most.
I think he’s more overrated as a manager than a player.Very controversial opinion but I think he is a little bit.
