You enjoy seeing Auckland getting belted by basically anyone?

I get what the plan was but practically, it's a very poor tournament.
We played Monterrey and Flamengo when we were in it recently, they both gave us a good game.

Also lost to Sao Paulo in 2005.

Club world cup will be very different in 2025, I think it will be a better tournament. And with the money they're talking about it will be a big deal to the clubs entering.

As for the current setup it's the sort of comp that you care about if you're in it, probably not so much if you're not.

Can't remember ever being too bothered about it before other than hoping (in vain) for the English reps to lose.

This is an interesting discussion. Purely as a football fan, would you prefer Leicester or Man City’s last decade?

Man City have dominated football, won basically every trophy on offer, as they were expected to do.

The Leicester decade speaks for itself really. For a rather obscure club, a hell of a lot of ‘ups’ but some ‘downs’ as well.

I’m very obviously biased but the level my club operates on makes the highs and lows far more varied and wild.

Yep, us Leicester and Greece supporters have been spoilt this century. :p

Finished 4-0.

Might have come at a cost with Fluminense with a few dirty tackles, one of which might be a serious injury to Rodri.

Been quite the 2023. League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup. Not bad.

Yeah absolutely nothing to do with the broadcasting contract or the CL or other competitions Liverpool are happy to be part of to gain extra revenue.

Nothing to do with the pre-season trips they go on that no one forces them to go on but they happily do in order to earn extra revenue.

But hey I'm sure Klopp would be at the front of the queue to get rid of the EFL Cup in order to free up some space in the calendar for more CL games for more money at the expense of important revenue for lower league clubs. So maybe HE should put his shirt away and think about what's best for football.

It's ****ing boring.

He's talking about West Ham being shafted with the fixtures.

Bizarre rant.

If you actually watched the whole thing it is Jurg saying West Ham copping a 12.30 KO isn't fair after they had a mid week cup tie.

Quite how you've referenced a pre season where Liverpool mainly spent it in Germany apart from 5 days in Singapore is a mystery.

It's not bizarre at all, all the big managers do it. I'm including most if not all PL clubs in that. West Ham toured Australia, you played in Singapore last time I checked. They all do it. Then the moan and whinge and dog whistle in the press to the point where the EFL Cup will be scrapped, FA Cup replays will be scrapped, and everything possible will be done to maximise the revenue and benefit of the PL at the expense of the rest of the pyramid.

And if you think Klopp is singularly moaning about the 12.30 KO when he says 'general football problems' then you're either naive or being wilfully ignorant.

Now this is what you call a tantrum from a manager.

That was like me with Champ Manager back in the day when the bloody rigged game would rob me of crucial points!

Just about every European association has scrapped their secondary cup competition.

Klopp rightly has a problem with 12.30 kick offs following international breaks or short turnarounds from mid week games. Should not happen full stop. Doesn't have a problem with them otherwise.

West Ham didn't play half their team during the week anyway

The 12.30 fixture whinge is just weird especially if at home. 2.5 hours isn't going to give you much difference and if it did you get that extra recovery time before your next game

I suspect police have a lot to do with Liverpools early kick offs. Our game a few weeks back was definitely moved on advice of police.

Usually it is simply just a case of Liverpool being the 2nd biggest club. Sky choose first and usually it is the big game of the week or United then BT/TNT choose and they want a big team for their game and Liverpool are the side left
