It's not difficult to understand. A poster asked you if the MCFC stadium was built with taxpayer money.

Why not simply answer that question?
You seem to know, why dont you answer.

Does differing purposes matter?
End result is taxpayer money ending up on a football stadium.

The why isn't as important imo
You can argue the toss over how much benefit the Commonwealth games gives a community, but government putting in money for that allowed an international sporting event to be held in the city.

Putting money into a new stadium bring benefits to the Glazers, Radcliffe and United fans is something else. What benefit do the vast majority of the community get out of it? United isn't a UK registered business, neither the Glazers or Ratcliffe are UK residents. So why should the government spending tax money to give them a financial hand?

Manchester City Council paid £22 million for it to be converted into a football stadium.
And pay annual rent. And handed over Maine Road to the council which is now community housing.

Hahaha please, United are number one for nobody. We've won a title more recently than you haha. Chelsea are very quickly going the same way.

You're having to try and stay relevant through comments in the media. Absolute shadow of the club it was.

They are hated and adored.

But never ignored.

I'm very much against tax payer funded stadia for private companies. The US model is bullshit. The amount of piss boiling one comment from Ratcliffe has caused is highly amusing though. Still number one in many peoples heads.
Quite ironic given how often you wet your pants about City on here.

Still if it makes you feel better about yourself.

Everyone is constantly talking about United.

Lip readers only got the Walker interaction with the 4th official and ref. Saying something like he's saying stuff about my kidss

Lip readers? There is a clip someone posted of the Bellingham and Greenwood interaction and slowed right down it looks like Bellingham said “rubbish” and not “rapist”. So who knows what is true when it comes to what people post on social media.

You can't seriously be saying this straight faced.
Still among the top 5 biggest, highest followed and most spoken about clubs in the world.

Comparing them to minnows Chelsea who have reverted back to their pre-Abramovich cheatcode irrelevancy is hilarious.
United are nothing like the chavs.

Pot meet kettle. Keep following United and talking about us. It's a city fans no. 1 obsession. Just embrace it!
I'm fine talking about all teams. Not much point going on a general football forum if I didn't.

United particularly pleasant to talk about in recent years, so why not?

If you want to have another cry about obsession or call people racists because people talking about United upsets you, then I guess that's up to you.

I misread that. The council didn't pay for it to be converted. The club paid.

Just seen a wiki that says council paid £22m to convert it and we paid £20m to fit it out.

We took out a 250 year lease (£3m a year) and handed over the land Maine Rd was on.

Think we renegotiated terms of the lease when we extended the South Stand, but not sure what the new terms were.
