You can argue the toss over how much benefit the Commonwealth games gives a community, but government putting in money for that allowed an international sporting event to be held in the city.

Putting money into a new stadium bring benefits to the Glazers, Radcliffe and United fans is something else. What benefit do the vast majority of the community get out of it? United isn't a UK registered business, neither the Glazers or Ratcliffe are UK residents. So why should the government spending tax money to give them a financial hand?

Not really because until a guilty verdict is reached, a premier league charge has as much teeth as a Tottenham title challenge in the colour TV era.

I would hate to get all giddy about winning that trophy and then be gutted if the tribunal takes it away from us.

FWIW it was the 1 year anniversary of us being charged yesterday. Pep said he was staying regardless and we went on to win 22 of our next 28 (5 draws) on way to winning the Treble.

Maybe the league could throw a few more charges our way soon. It would get the kiddies excited and maybe give us another push toward another cup or two.

I'm not sure, but I can't imagine we would have paid for it. There was some interest from Stockport County and Sale Sharks in playing there so when we left, it wasnt necessarily going to be demolished.
