This was lost on me initially. Makes you wonder if the Lewis family will keep the club. Hopefully the new man in charge after Levy has better football acumen than Daniel
No sale imminent.

Amanda Staveley and an Asian consortium have failed with approaches to buy Tottenham Hotspur, owners Enic and the Lewis family insisting the club are not for sale.
Telegraph Sport understands that both approaches were made following last week’s announcement that Daniel Levy had stood down as chairman.

Tottenham have revealed that the approaches were “unequivocally rejected” with a source close to the Lewis family reiterating the club are not for sale.
It is now anticipated that Staveley, who sold a stake in Newcastle United in July 2024, will make a statement confirming she will not follow up her approach with a bid.

Both Staveley, operating through PCP International Finance Ltd, and the Asian consortium, led by Dr Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng, have until 5pm on October 5 to announce a firm intention to make a bid or announce they do not intend to make an offer, although that deadline can be extended.
Should they announce they do not intend to follow up their approaches with a bid, then takeover rules mean they cannot come back with an offer for six months.

Levy’s departure meant the Lewis family trust is now in charge of the running of Tottenham, along with non-executive chairman Peter Charrington and chief executive Vinai Venkatesham.
The Lewis family trust is the majority owner of Enic, Tottenham’s largest shareholder, while Levy still owns almost 30 per cent of Spurs shares.

A Tottenham statement said: “The Board of Tottenham Hotspur Limited (’Tottenham Hotspur’, the ‘Club’ or the ‘Company’) is aware of recent media speculation and confirms that its majority shareholder, Enic Sports & Developments Holdings Ltd, has received, and unequivocally rejected, separate preliminary expressions of interest in relation to proposals to acquire the entire issued, and to be issued, share capital of ENIC from (i) PCP International Finance Limited; and (ii) a consortium of investors led by Dr Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng through Firehawk Holdings Limited (the ‘Consortium’).

“As a consequence of Enic’s majority ownership interest in Tottenham Hotspur, were any offer made to acquire Enic and complete, a mandatory offer would be required under Rule 9 of the Code to acquire the shares of Tottenham Hotspur not already held by Enic.
“The Board of the Club and Enic confirm that Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale and Enic has no intention to accept any such offer to acquire its interest in the Club.
“The person responsible for arranging the release of this announcement on behalf of Tottenham Hotspur is Peter Charrington (non-executive chairman).”
A source close to the Lewis family added: “The club is not for sale.”

No sale imminent.

are they playing the long game by actually trying to win on field before selling up?

if they're valuing the club at (circa) £3.5b whilst shit, what would constant CL appearances and sporadic silverware do for to the Forbes evaluation?

Suggesting Lewis family investment.

Anyone but Sulzeer campaigner.

Looking at previous years the successful inductees have all been nominated in each of the preceding awards. If that happened again it would rule out Carrick, Defoe, Evra, Fabregas, Hazard, Neville, Sheringham, Silva, Touré, van der Sar

Campbell, Ferdinand, Fowler, Owen, Vidić have all been nominated the past four years.

Imagine how frustrating it must have been to lose a World Cup Semi Final to two goals from a defender and then watch as the team you lost the Semi Final against went on to win the final 3-0 in a one-sided final.

A very memorable match that one. It was Thuram himself who didn’t track Suker, who waltzed towards goal to give Croatia the lead. Thuram scored very soon after to equalise, and then the winning goal off his left foot came out of nowhere. From memory just a few minutes later Bilic went down clutching his head/eye (when contact was around the chest from memory), and the referee gave Laurent Blanc a straight red card which meant he was suspended for the final.
