Looking like a big derby tomorrow night despite recent struggles for both teams

Jatz SM any of you going?

I feel like you always ask me this and I always have the same answer - I don't support either team lol.

So would you go to Blues v Collingwood just because its a rivalry in Melbourne?

No because it doesn't interest me, it's not the same sort of rivalry and the Sydney derby atmosphere is well known.

However if it were a granny and I could get tickets I would go.

But that would require Blues in a granny and I don't see that happening in my lifetime...

You're right, it isn't the same sort of rivalry.

The Sydney derby is a plastic, manufactured rivalry, Carlton v Collingwood is built on 100 years of history.

I'm not sure I've ever agreed with something you've said more.

This is just showing how we value things with different weightings.
You say the Sydney derby atmosphere is well known. I would say I take your word for it while shrugging indifferently.

Two Sydney teams is a big whoop to this Victorian.
Physically attending a match without a team I follow also wouldn't elicit an excited response.

I'm looking to attend Spurs vs Forest in London on Sunday 22nd March. First and foremost because I'm a football lover and would like to experience Spurs Stadium, why not while I am in town if I can get a ticket for a reasonable price.

I've definitely attended some neutral games as a tourist - went to QPR v Blackburn when I was in the UK as City weren't playing on the Saturday and I was in London so thought I may as well - but not in my home town unless it's with a mate whose team it is.

I wanted to try a championship game but nothing on Sunday 22nd March in London.

Think it may be because League Cup final is on that day. I'd love to attend that but I doubt there is much chance of getting a ticket.

I went with a couple of British mates to watch Peter Beardsley when he played for the Melbourne Knights in 1999 and then we went to watch Leeds United in 2002 when they came to Australia. My mates support Bradford and Tottenham so that was a bit weird.

Iconic venues around the world while travelling is another thing entirely.

San Siro, La Bombanera or the Nou Camp etc. is up there with seeing MSG, Wrigley field or Lord's.

Quite different to a plastic derby in the A-League in a stadium that hardly stands out or is special.

It's weird being at games when you are a complete neutral. I went to Chile v Cameroon at the 2000 Olympics. Along with the rest of the crowd I was cheering any bit of exciting play. In countries where the crowd is segregated it's best to not stand out.

Apart from hundreds of Oldham games, I've gone with mates to watch United, City and Brentford so you go along with that. Then at different times I've lived near Leeds, and in Majorca so you kind of adopt them as your local team for a while.

To be fair the new Allianz is a very nice stadium to watch football in.

Not prestigious though. No one is going to watch a game there just to say they've been to the stadium.

I actually think Commbank is really good too.

It probably is.
Marvel since the AFL took over it is also nice to watch sport. And there'd be others.

But in terms of bucket list venues I'd say Australia has 2. MCG and SCG.

Calling the Sydney Derby plastic is a bit rich from someone who supports one of the world's wealthiest clubs from 20,000 km away.

Not sure Hull has ever been referred to as one of the world's wealthiest clubs before.

Just give it six months..
