plus we also get a decent chunk of change from deals like porro and whoever else southampton wants to spend big on from our academy.

Liverpool have spent plenty this window. Maybe not in the right areas but this narrative that they're not being backed is a false one.
Huge wage bill, over £100m on forwards alone, only one significant sale. I think we need to look beyond just transfers for reasons why they're flopping so hard.
Its not a false narrative. 1 senior midfielder signed in 5 years (Thiago) only due to him being available for 20m and he was 29 so hardly a long teem prospect. Name another big club with such a record.
Wage bill isnt surprising given the success in the last 5 years. It will drop significantly this season.
If we were backed we would be spending like Chelsea. Latest finacial repprts show FSG have spent more on loan repayments for stadium / training ground out of club revenue (to themselves). Theyve checked out financially, all their top guys are working on a sale maximising their return.
You've had the money to improve your midfield. You've chosen to spend it in other areas.
Over £100m on forwards this season. £750m on new signings in the past six years. Huge wage bill. If Klopp wanted to improve your midfield there was plenty of opportunity to do it.
Zidane is ITK. Embedded in FSG.Our forward line has been at the club since 2015/16/17 all in their early 30s. I guess we could have just ignored that and continued on unil they were on zimmer frames.
Klopp has spent 283m net in the last 6 years. Well below all top 6 rivals.
FSG did not allow Klopp to purchase a midfielder in summer (Milner new contract + Arthur on loan was what he was given) or in the winter window. Ho did you go finding another big club that had signed 1 midfielder in 5 years?
As for wage bill no other club has won every trophy available to them in the last 5 years. Plus 3 CL final appearances. Id be shocked if the wage bill wasnt high.

Sounds pretty appalling squad management to have £700m plus spent on new signings and be left with no midfielders, old players with no resale value, and the likes of Gakpo as your younger options.

Losing Edwards is probably starting to show in their squad health.
And losing our passwords as well.Losing Edwards is probably starting to show in their squad health.
How did I go?Klopp spent 283m net in 7 years . FFP wise we are in a great position to go on a spree due to FSG being tight but FSG are more interested in debt repayments from club revenue. Not once have they ever put their own money up for transfers. Undoubtedly behind the scenes theyve been trying to get "a few more years" out of older players.
How did you go with finding another club who has made 1 midfield signing in 5 years? Any luck?
How did I go?
I didn't look. If Klopp chooses to spent £100m+ on Nunez and Gakpo instead of strengthening your midfield, that's none of my concern.
Although given the fact the value you got out the £100m + you spent on Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain maybe he's a bit wary.
Well if it was me, and I was desperate to sign a midfielder I'd probably have passed on Gakpo in January and bought a midfielder.
But that's just me. Klopp made his own choice, just as he made choices how to spend the £700m+ he's spent on new signings.
I'm not the slightest bit interested if there is another club. Its irrelevant. Klopp has had money to spend on the midfield. He's either spent it badly (IMO) or has prioritised other areas. You do realise Firmino is leaving in the summer after 8 years of service right? Gakpo is his replacement. 37m is peanuts these days anyway - thats the main reason he was picked up and his age. His signing did not affect whether a midfielder was going to be signed or not.

It happens.
Are you suggesting Klopp's been given money but exclusively told not to spend it on the midfield?LOL. Of course it is relevant. You can't find another club that's only signed 1 midfielder in 5 years, that's why.
Klopp hasn't been allowed to spend money on midfield, to suggest he has spent it badly is a bit of a strange one.
With Klopp's record in the market since he came on board (283m net over 7 years, average of 40m net per season) he should have been allowed to purchase forwards AND midfielders because both needed addressing. Especially after coming off a season where the club made huge revenues from 2 cup victories and playing every possible game in season 21/22. Really, FSG should be outspending Boehly & co if they are serious. Put their own money on the line for once instead of using club revenue for transfers. They probably thought they could get away with one more season without new midfield signings by extending Milner and bringing in Arthur on loan.
