Heaps of young local talent and he prioritises a 33 year old playing in the Dutch league

He’d be at multiple games every weekend. It was Henderson’s first game back in Europe so it makes sense he’d go and watch it.

Whether Henderson is good enough anymore is a different point but I don’t think it means hes “prioritising” him over watching young players.

I get it but it's one weekend.

Who's to say he hasn't been watching the other games every other weekend?

I don't believe he's get much value from watching his first game back. Surely better off waiting for him to settle in.

I may stand corrected but I can't find any info on him watching Kane in Germany or spectating on the many English players in Italy.

Southgate probably doesn't need to watch Kane or Bellingham.

But if he's watching Ajax play on a Saturday he wouldn't be watching Brighton (Dunk, Hinshelwood) v Palace (Guehi, Olise).
Or Newcastle (Trippier, Gordon, Barnes, Wilson) v Luton (Barkley).
Or Sheff U v Villa (Konsa, Watkins).

Southgate should be selecting Mainoo & Jones in midfield. Not an underdone & underperforming Philiips & an ageing Hendo. Have faith in younger players.
And where's he fitting Bellingham, Foden, Grealish and Maddison...

Playing the latest Liverpool or Man United flavour of the month because they've played three or four decent games in a row does sound like something Southgate would do.

I expect Palmer and Gordon will be in the squad, and there's only so much inexperience you can bring to a tournament.

Unless he works be prepared to start a Mainoo or a Jones in a key game whats the point in bring them along for the ride.

Holy crap, that’s actually legit? Mudryk actually engaged directly with that fan on his Instagram? Even when he was “twerking” for Arsenal last year I thought it’s very unusual/unprofessional for him to be posting such stuff on his socials. Leave that to his representatives. This shit is embarrassing for him and his employers.

Yeah pretty poor from both parties but he needs to be more resilient than that. Easy to say from the cheap seats but if I was him I would delete all social media

Completely biased viewpoint incoming. Those guys play in more advanced roles. If Southgate plays 4-3-3 (with two deep midfielders) then I would expect a midfield of Rice, Mainoo and Bellingham in current form. Not sure Bellingham, Foden, Grealish or Maddison can play as a 6. Grealish and Foden can play on the flanks and would compete for spots most likely with guys like Saka. Assume Maddison is in competition with Bellingham. Aside from Rice I don't see a standout English no.6. Southgate can embed someone like Mainoo, Jones or whoever in the team now to get ready for the World Cup or play some shittruck like Phillips, Henderson, etc who won't offer anything really and would likely be a liability.

Can’t imagine how much shit the players would be directly sent. It would be grim reading especially after a loss/poor performance. And the words would be quite predictable if it was directed at people of colour. The person who took the screenshot and posted - not sure they’d be proud of the abuse directed at Mudryk here. To receive a response like that and be challenged to a match for money? Wtf.

His representatives/agent need to act here. Unfortunately he’s just going to attract more of these kinds of people in the short term.

Jones... who plays well against Championship clubs and was obliterated by Arsenal last night? He's nowhere near the standard.

Was more the implied notion based off the tone used of Mainoo and Jones being the best for England and backing youth.
If we consider the 5 behind the striker but ahead of the defence as "the midfield". Either in 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. There's more credentialed players to select first.

No issues with squad places. On form Rashford and Phillips should miss out. Henderson probably a relic of the past. Ditto Trippier.
Should also consider TAA for a RM/RCM spot given he thrives in a more attacking area.

So I don't disagree on Phillips and Henderson. I just read the comment as both should start for England. To which I think that's premature. Rice as you say should be the 6.

Southgate nearly always plays with two deep mids. Rice is the automatic selection.

Henderson used to be a good option alongside him but he's past his use by date. He was garbage in a recent game against Malta. Gallagher was even worse and was dragged at half time. Phillips has barely played and is badly out of form.

Mainoo and Rico Lewis are possibles in that role. Both are youngsters but if you are given responsibility in a top 6 Premier League team then you are ready for international football. From what I have seen Mainoo is the more creative player. England have 4 friendlies before the Euros. Why not throw him in there and see how he interacts with Rice, Bellingham and Foden?

Curtis Jones has been every bit as good for us this season as World Cup winner Mac Allister, and has been playing at this level since around mid-last season. I don’t think it would be tokenistic to have Jones in the England squad. I wouldn’t necessarily start him but he wouldn’t disappoint if called upon.

It’s moot though because the midfield should be Rice, Bellingham and Foden.
