Truly sad how accurate it is that action only occurs after tragedy. Not before.

That's how it works. Until there is a problem you can't legislate for the unknown.

It’s clearly an issue but I guess you never expect someone to die from it (although it seems obvious).

How long had that ground had the wall there?

I’d be curious to know how many grounds wouldn’t pass a safety inspection like that.

They must all pass, unless something happens there's no issue right? It's not as if you could, I dunno, use logic and reason to assess the potential for something to happen.

If you look at Street view, at least 13 years. It's probably a lot longer.

It's way too early to think that Palace could do a Leicester but they haven't been beaten in any competition since mid-April, including wins over City and Liverpool. Is a Champions League place realistic?

I agree with you.

It's strange to me that no one thought to question this particular ground in any significant way.

Yeah sorry my sarcasm wasn't being directed at you!

Definitely.

In terms of world club titles I believe the best way to decide it would be a two leg playoff between champions of Europe and champions of Sth America.

Because, let's be honest - that will always be where the two best clubs come even with all of the oil money going into Asian club football currently.

I'd then create a second competition where all of AFC, OFC, AFCON & CONEMBOL all play each other once in a group format. Ideally, I'd like to see OFC absorbed into AFC one day and have all 3 teams play each other twice to decide on a winner. But that may be a long way off.

Winner of that competition plays the winner of the UEFA/CONEMBOL winner in a once off super cup style match.

This cuts out alot of bullshit meaningless games.

I slightly digress, but after the latest results in Europe for Scottish club sides Scotland is now a 3rd tier soccer nation.

The Scottish Premiership is currently ranked 18 by UEFA, down from 11 when the allocations for this season's European competitions were decided. If that ranking remains, or goes down further, it would mean Scotland would go back to only having one team in the Champions League, probably entering at the 2nd qualifying round.

Hard to argue. Rangers are a bin fire in general. The people running Celtic were happy to collect the champions league cheques for appearing but their attitude has always been that it would not be possible to win the champions league so they won't spend any money to try to compete. The problem with that is the squad is now downsized to a level where it will be very difficult to ever get back to qualifying regularly for the champions league again. Very short sighted way to run the club. They could have been investing 30 million of the champions league tv money a season in the squad to help accrue coefficient points and keep the Scottish coefficient somewhat respectable. Instead they have decided to bank the 90 million cash from the last 3 seasons in the champions league. If you are not spending the money in the period you earn it, you are then ****ed by FFP moving forward because your revenue tanks without the champions league money and then you can't afford to spend all the money you have in the bank under FFP. Celtic board have created their own death spiral.
