Highly recommend the Graham Hunter podcast to those who love their football. He started them a month ago and he's had Gary Neville on to talk about punditry, Barca and Utd, Carra to talk about Istanbul, Gordon Strachan to discuss coaching and Iniesta and Kevin Bridges (comedian) to discuss Barca, being coached by Mourinho and Henrik Lasson.

Listened to the Carra one last week and thought it was really good, had a different vibe to it instead of the usual football interviews/chat where you just feel like you've heard it all before. Even the Istanbul stuff which has been done to death had a different spin on it.

Looking forward to giving the others a listen.

For those that like their Scottish Football, would you like it in the summer?

Apparently a majority of Scottish clubs say yes. Could it be beneficial for the Scottish game? Ireland's league is also a summer league, it goes from March to November, so they won't be alone in the Isles.

Carver and Steve Stone left Newcastle. Un/expected?

I think most Toon fans were surprised. The club had been making noises to suggest that whoever came in as manager would need to be willing to 'work with the existing structure/backroom staff' - not sure why that has seemingly changed? Carver and Stone (plus the rest of the support staff) had 8 year deals like Pardew so surely would have been a hefty payout for both.

Garde reportedly cooled interest in the job because he wanted to bring his own folks in and the club supposedly weren't open to the idea. Interesting to see McClaren has been afforded that though. I guess being chummy with some of the powerbrokers at the club has helped him.

If nothing else, has helped boost the reception for McClaren. :p

I found it amazing reading through Xavi's CV the other day. Having played a key role in this incredible Barcelona dynasty, he finishes his career as one of the most decorated players ever to play the game. Here's a very interesting (and extensive!) spreadsheet showing where he sits amongst his peers in that list:
