Well he is Irish. There is probably a good reason for this.

Jatz so far they've brought in the highly rated Tyrone Mings, Distin as a bit of experience in their defence - though I'm skeptical of how much he'll actually play - and Boruc and Federici to give them a PL quality keeper and a decent depth keeper.

Ritchie was being chased by a number of PL clubs in the event they didn't get promoted, and their striker stocks are pretty impressive.

Mings isn't exactly in a high pressure position though, a bit like Robertson for us and Cresswell for West Ham. 8m for him is a lot though I agree, and I do think they need to be looking at bringing an experienced striker in. I'm actually surprised they haven't made a move for someone like Jelavic or N'Doye, who have shown they can score goals in a side lacking creativity, and would be relatively cheap.

Yeah, I had a quick look on his wikipedia page over lunch and saw he was born in NI but represents the Republic of Ireland (which I thought was unusual - so this clears it up).

Yeah I remember reading that statement - hard to argue against that I suppose. Not sure if I agree 100% with his actions but I can at least respect his reasons.

It's a tough one, I think a lot of Baggies fans seem to be upset as it disrespects their country (at least his actions aren't 'more offensive' I suppose i.e spitting or physically blocking his ears out).

An interesting comment I read is McClean might oppose the English but he's happy to ply his trade and take their coin. Food for thought at least.
