Nobody looks at the FA Cup Final between us and Arsenal, or Wigan and Manchester city, and says "that didn't count as a cup final because Hull/wigan aren't a good team".

The magic of the Cup is what makes the game special, not the venue.

Who suggested that first part?

Yep but the venue adds to the theatre of it all. Especially to matchday going supporters. It's a day out. Ask Villa's fans how exciting it was to visit Wembley last season.

By suggesting that the venue should be preserved for high quality matches not "Chelsea v Sunderland" the suggestion seemed to be that such a match up would belittle the venue. It's a football stadium, Chelsea want to play football there, don't think there's much more to it.

Since we were there 12 months before them don't think I need to ask them lol. The excitement was about being in the Cup final, "going to Wembley" was chanted because we were in a cup final. After all, we'd played Sheffield United there a few weeks prior, I doubt we were getting giddy about the seats and food on offer.

Apologies, I meant cup finals, internationals etc. If those clubs reach the final, good on them.

You don't think the championship playoff is more exciting being played at Wembley rather than Carrow Road or the Riverside (last year for instance)? I don't think it makes as much difference to you or I but I know some supporters from smaller clubs (like Villa fans) that have loved the chance to play in front of a packed crowd there.

Chelsea vs Sunderland cup final is much different to a league game though. Its the context of the game that matters, not the teams involved.

Yep, it's the context of the game not the venue that matters.

Which is Jatz' point I think. Wembley should be reserved for those games which have a "cup final" context, not your weekly league match.
Ok well that's not my point lol, the context of the game makes cup finals special, not Wembley.

I dont like that decision. It takes away from Wembley. Also if Chelsea make cup semi's or cup finals. They just play at home. That's unfair.
Good point, maybe villa Park will get matches?

Not really phased by this as either way Chelsea are playing their home league games at a "neutral" venue for 3 (?) seasons. They will probably know the ground better than most by end but it will be a disadvantage to them on the whole imo.

I don't really have a problem with it. I mean look at the two main stadiums in Australia, they're whored out for everything. As long as in the future another London club gets the same deal if they want it. At the end of the day the more good stadiums England have the better for them.

That's the point of difference though. Before this, Wembley hasn't been whored out.

Unless other clubs are willing to stump up 12 mil, I doubt they'd get the same deal.

Are Chelsea going to change their ticket prices for Wembley? No way you can fill it at current prices.

Our prices have been frozen for 5 years.

We will be setting the limit at 50k for Wembley(thats all their allowed to add the extra games) so we'll have no probs filling it:thumbsu:

ahh cool. Why only 50k? isn't the capacity 90k?

Not having a dig btw, probs only 5-10 teams in the world could fill that stadium every week :thumbsu:

the council only allow Wembley 7 events a year over 50k ( for the neighbors sake) can have as many as they want under 50k

Still don't like cup semis at Wembley let alone league games.

Bad decision by the FA IMO but a predictable one.
