Sucks for La Liga that Real and Barca get such a leg up. Amazing effort from Atletico that they can not only be competitive but actually win the league with the financial handbrake that they have.
Actually come 2016 or 2017 that will change.

This graphic showing the current deal shows just how much of a competitive advantage this next deal is going to be for English clubs relative to their European counterparts:

IIRC, Barca and Real have independent TV rights deals from the rest of the league (hence the huge gap with the rest of the clubs).

Bayern only getting 36.9m Euros is pretty interesting (and laughable) when you realise arguably the best team in Europe is going to get less than half of the 20th placed EPL side. Juve (94m) and PSG (44.6m) would probably be a bit envious too given they are probably the best and biggest teams in their respective leagues but don't command as much as the team that ends up last in the PL.

On a personal note, this doesn't bode well for Toon fans' hopes of seeing Mike Ashley put the club up for sale and moving on. With more money being available, the greedy grub will be rubbing his hands with glee at more money to line his pockets with. :(

This board should of created a consortium to by Parma FC.

It only would have cost us 1 euro.
But I assume there'd be a truckload of debt? That's usually why those sorts of sales happen.

Can you imagine!

KC wanting to buy anyone German
Jod wanting to sign Stevie Gewward
Mourinho managing which results in 90% of the board whinging about his tactics/demeanor etc.
SM getting Steve Bruce (God) in as an Assistant Manager.
Bojan wanting to line up in a 1-2-8 formation.

There has to be more right?

Pretty sure that formation is illegal, unless you've got someone bribing the Italian refs since you're buying Parma (Wow, one of the big 7 back in the day)... actually, that makes perfect sense.

Also, looking at that chart, it also reminded me about the benefits of just reaching the Premier League. Not only have you got TV Money, and a large amount of money for being bottom, there's also parachute payments as well should you get relegated.

As things stand, I recall that the average PL team in 2013 got 55mil pounds, the average Championship team got 2mil pounds. I believe you get 60 mil over 4 years if you got relegated. Burnley were still on parachute payments when they got promoted last year.

Now I'm not sure if this is correct or not, but I believe we earned 50k for winning the Championship. That pales in comparison to money one gets just from being in the PL. Actually, never mind that, I think QPR got more money for winning the playoffs, which is 25% of all ticket earnings from the final, so... 600k I'd say? It's small potatoes to league money, but the fact they pocketed more for winning the playoffs rather than finishing as champions? That's totally 'fair.'

Also, aside from the personal sponsors, I also heard that La Liga TV money is split on the popularity of teams in Spain. As you can guess, that makes for some very unfair dealing. At least in the UK, you've got supporters who support local teams throughout the league. In Spain, it's all about the glory.

As noted, it just highlights how well Atletico, and to a lesser extent Valencia in 2002 and 2004, and Coruna in 2000, did to win the title.

If we had of got organised earlier, we could have beaten Mike Ashley to buying the naming rights to Ibrox Stadium (Ranger's stadium) for just £1. :)

Germany got stung with the collapse of their pay TV and football channels in the early 2000's that send a few clubs perilously close to bankruptcy.

This lead to a league wide push towards stable commercial deals becoming the desired form of income for football clubs.

Bayern for this very reason make virtually no revenue from TV rights (Pay tv in germany makes no money anyway since people dont trust it) and focus almost entirely on commercial deals, which they monster every other team in the world in.

atletico have big investment coming in from china now plus madrid have joined barca in saying they'll agree to more money filtering back down to the smaller clubs
How kind of them...
