Also plenty of people would follow FC United after the publicity, doesn't mean they actually support the team.
I also know for a fact plenty like our facebook page, then after they put up the results they start asking "Wait, what? Is this the reserves side?"
We get a fair chunk of people who confuse us with Manchester United.

I wonder what the stats are for people who use facebook vs people who use twitter.
I mean their regions.
On facebook, Manchester United is 50% larger than Chelsea and 100% larger than Arsenal where as Chelsel and Aresnal are about 20% larger than Manchester Untied on twitter.

Chelsea 5,197,114
Manchester United 4,444,949
Liverpool 3,932,430
Manchester City 2,316,964
Tottenham Hotspur 1,042,658

I'd say FB is just more popular worldwide.

United's Twitter is less than 2 years old thats why it has less followers.

How many followers a club has on any form of social media is a terrible yard stick.

Ronaldo lovers often cite his larger number of fans following him on facebook/twitter (vs Messi) as evidence of him being the better footballer.

No they don't. When people say that everyone that doesn't support Real or United don't like him and/or rate him as highly as Messi (which is very common on here), some choose to quote his social media numbers as it shows how popular he actually is.

fwiw.
I like Messi more but rate Ronaldo higher.
Just like I like Pendlebury more but rate Ablett higher.

Was wondering, is there any active players left that were playing league football in England prior to the Premier League?

Would have had to have been 16/17 when the Prem came into being, and about 40 now.

Can't find anyone at all. I imagine Giggs would have been the last "original".

Also there are very few players other than CB's / goalkeepers playing over the age of 35 these days. It's a young man's game now.

Figo apparently proposing either a 40 team World Cup or even a 48 team World Cup (2 24-team competitions held on separate continents with the knockout phase being held in one nation).

"The headline from the manifesto: a potentially radical overhaul of the World Cup. The current 32-team tournament could be increased to 40 teams or even two 24-team competitions simultaneously on two continents followed by a knockout phase in one nation.

That would ensure participation of 48 of the 209 members, making a President Figo more appealing to nations who do not qualify regularly for the quadrennial extravaganza."

He's just hunting for votes. Its like an political campaign, about 1% of what is proposed now will ever actually take place.

Yeah, tend to agree it might be a ploy to win votes (particularly from those nations that struggle to qualify for the tournament). I'm personally in favour of the current 32 team format (though with possible changes to the number of qualification spots each confederation receive).

If it is a case of trying to conjure up votes, I don't think it's necessary. Surely Blatter wouldn't be successful in retaining the presidency following on the scandals after his watch in recent years.
