why would any manager want to deal with that toxic environment? the worst, vitriolic media around? the whipping up of frenzied, aggressive expectation after good qualifying/getting through an easy group? it's one of the most difficult international jobs around, if not the most difficult.

Why does it have to be a British coach?
It shouldnt have to be. But hiring an outsider is seen as an indictment on the state of the British game.

FA not the bravest but they really need to say "who gives a **** what the press, other managers and public think. We'll get the best man available, wherever they were born".

Because it's also the most highly paid international manager role in the world, and one of the top 20 including club management roles.

I would bet a lot of money that Woy's replacement doesn't come from this list.

Haha re-reading it I can't believe I missed that Alan Shearer is on here as a candidate who would be better than Hodgson.

Man this post is hilarious.
Man you are being such a jerk about this. I expected when you quoted me that you would be apologetic and acknowledge that I had been right to say Woy should've been replaced. Instead you are trying to make it sound like I had attempted to make a definitive list, when all I did was say I didn't rate Woy and that:
I believe there is more than one manager in the world. It's a well-paid position, and a fun one if you can handle the media scrutiny.

I'm happy to do it if they're that desperate. A quick heads-up, though - I'll be taking a lot of training camps in warmer locales.
You then insisted that if I didn't list other managers I was somehow wrong to think Hodgson should be replaced. Which I said was a dumb point, and to prove it I listed a bunch of people who could manage England. Nowhere did I suggest I thought any of them should. I merely pointed out England shouldn't be content with drawing a lot under Woy and other options were available all over the world. You then dismissed the list as a 'Google search' for some reason known only to you, and yet now you're trying to claim it was a definitive list. And then you say maybe Pardew could do it and he is on the list. Odd odd odd.

And I don't know why they don't grab Guus. ...Who was on the list.

Half the names you mentioned are garbage though.
Good. Because that was half the point. I was saying Woy was no good and that there are many, many people who could do the job. Hence why the comments before the list and the comment directly after it ("What was the point of this again?") directly refer to how dumb it was to make me list names just to prove I knew other managers existed.

Woy had been given an opportunity to see if he could step up to the plate. He hadn't. England should've tried harder.

Roy didn't get fired though he resigned.. I'm highlighting how ridiculous your list was then and still is. You were obnoxious at the time.

And where have I ever said he was fired? Given you've picked up a 3.5 week old post in order to pretend it meant more than it did, seemingly because... um... because you're annoyed that Woy did turn out to be rubbish and you had defended him? Is that it? It's hard to tell.

But yeah given your behaviour then and now, I'll take accusations of obnoxiousness and ridiculousness with a grain of salt. Thanks for thinking of me, tho.

Right. So you listing managers who are supposedly better than Roy when the majority aren't, and the rest wouldn't manage England means what..?

You made a stupid comment and got called on it and then carried on about it.

You must have a lot going on in life to feel the need to re-write history about a comment no-one would've remembered.

Not to nitpick but let's face it. He jumped before he was pushed lol

you seem to be accused of it every window. Buying non-eu u18's.....
You're just salty because he had a trial at United and you wanted to sign him but he decided we had the better academy.

And being accused of something isnt the same as doing something. Kid has an EU passport I believe.

And yet still better than Hodgson. Shearer honestly would be a better option. Look at Low's career pre Germany role. Hardly has those guys covered

They really aren't. :drunk:

Pointing to one manager having a better national team record than club record does not mean failure managers should be given the England gig.

Hodgson at least had a credible record before getting the job.

I will back shearer who has pointed out Roy's biggest flaw (no idea what his formation or best XI is) early on over someone with a 5/10 track record for the last 15 years

lol, or you're being dodgy again.

Well if we've done something wrong I'm sure it won't be hard to prove it. But given the only "proof" of dodginess so far is United whining to the press and threatening to refuse to play against us I'm not too concerned.

And you'll forgive me if I take your faux outrage with a grain of salt given you had the same player training with you over a year ago, and made an offer to him this time. Only he chose us, which is where I suspect your saltiness comes from.

City have refused to comment on the matter, but it is understood that Garre's father played professional football in Europe.

Fifa rules prohibit the international transfer of players under the age of 18, but they treat the European Union as a single country for the purpose of that.

Despite Thursday's referendum vote, the UK is still an EU member until the decision to leave is endorsed by the government, so City were free to sign Garre.

Garre has been to Manchester before, when he had a trial at United, and he was also being monitored by Barca before City won the race.

That doesn't say anything about a passport or if we offered him a contract.....working in Europe 10 years ago doesn't entitle your kids to a passport. There seems to be a couple of complaints a year about City (from outside of Europe). He's not even 16 yet ffs
