Carlo giving a few owners a clip.

Carlo Ancelotti has already had an impressive managerial career, taking charge of clubs including Juventus, AC Milan, PSG, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Now the man in charge at Bayern Munich, Ancelotti has been speaking to German newspaper Bild about various things, in an interview which the newspaper are publishing over several days.

On Tuesday there’s an interesting bit for Chelsea supporters, as Bild ask Ancelotti: “You have worked under Berlusconi, Abramovich, the sheikhs of Paris and Perez in Madrid. Will it work for you more easily with Rummenigge and Hoeness, because they are former professional football players?”

To that, Ancelotti answered: “This is the first time that I have bosses who were players themselves. Maybe we can more easily talk about technical and tactical aspects.

“As you know, everyone thinks they know everything about football. The first thing they tell you is: I have no idea about football BUT… It is this BUT that makes everything a little more difficult (laughs).”

To have worked with such demanding bosses previously will have set Ancelotti up well for his time at Bayern Munich. There’s huge focus on the club, and the media expect to fed with a constant stream of information about training and all aspects of what’s going on.

Those in charge at PSG, Silvio Berlusconi, Florentino Perez and Roman Abramovich have often been accused of interfering too much and annoying managers, and Ancelotti’s insight certainly suggests there’s some truth in it.

Heard an interesting interview with Barry Fry this morning about the League Trophy. Said that he thought the change was a good one, and the plan was that the academy sides would play twice away and once at their main stadium. Said there was no interest from lower league supporters in the early stages of the comp anyway, but this would give them and the players a chance for a game at a big stadium.

He also thought that no academy side would make the final if they all entered. Said that the league 1 and 2 teams would be far too strong. I tend to agree with him, although I think Chelsea might have given it a shake if they entered.

I'm a bit disappointed we won't be there. But understand the reasons why.

Wenger has had a meltdown and sacked Henry despite Thierry offering to work for free.....

where would he be without Henry lol

Wenger was butttthurt with Henry's punditry.
He gave him an ultimatum and said one or the other.

There is no bad blood between the two.

Celtic lose to a side from Gibraltar

And people talked about him being an England manager :tearsofjoy:

He'd have the national side finishing behind Malta in the qualifying group!

Ultimatum really doesn't seem necessary though. Was Henry failing in his role when he was involved with the media?
Cant be an honest pundit and coach at the same time unless he wasnt involved in any sort of arsenal punidtry at all.

How would you/your boss feel about you airing your thoughts about the organisation to millions every week?

Where would Henry be without Wenger? :D

No sacking involved, Henry was offered the U18 coaching role and Wenger told him that to take it on full time he would need to quit SKY, which he decided not to do. Sounds like it was all very respectful, shame to lose Henry I hope he will still have a role at the club in the future.

Wenger wasn't the one who offered him the job. The head of the academy did and Henry accepted. It was only later that Wenger got involved.

I didn't say Wenger offered him the job? He obviously wants his coaches to not have other jobs, especially in the media which we all know AW doesn't like.

no embarrassment apparently

not enough character unfortunately.
Disappointingly for you, that link shows a whole bunch of people and papers saying that the loss shows the size of Rodger's task. They aren't blaming him, but suggesting it shows how poorly the board and predecessors have done in creating the current team. Europe was his Achilles Heel at Liverpool, tho.

yeah you are right. The fact a team fielding 8 full internationals lost against a team of taxi drivers, coppers and fireman clearly shows that it's the boards fault. How could anyone expect them to beat the most dominant team in Gibraltar's celebrated football history. Definitely the board and his predecessors fault.

'I am right'? Read it back and you'll see I was the one saying he wasn't any good in Europe. I was pointing out that the papers didn't agree with you.

Brendan's best season: 2nd on 84 points
Mauricio's best season: 3rd on 70 points

Lolchettino.

Haha in all serious, what the f***. Loss to the Lincoln Red Imps probably not an ideal way to start his reign. Presumably Celtic have a 2nd leg at home to pull it back now though?

Yep. They sat 11 behind the ball, had 1 chance and scored while Celtic hit the woodwork twice. Pretty standard upset. Not quite Ranieri at Greece levels yet. But still a shocker!
