What a waste of 30mil?

You could've done what we did 12 months ago and signed an injured player on loan.

Bit of a strange comment. Second part suggests you're just trolling?

You brought him in January for a reason.

To win a trophy this season.

unless he's going to play in defence he was never going to be the difference between winning one and not winning one.

So if we win the title next year and Bony scores 20+ it will have been a waste of 30m?

You just implied that he was only signed because you had all 3 strikers injured.

What if that was the situation in March - what would you do then?

He was signed because the club accepted that it had made a mistake by loaning out Negredo and not getting a replacement in. This was shown in December when our three forwards were all out through injury.

If the situation was in March we would have done exactly what we did in December. Now though, we have more strength in that area.

This is what Pellegrini said:

"We are going to replace Alvaro Negredo because it was the decision that we took in the moment we sold him.

"We decided to see in December if we needed another striker [and we did] so we are going to find which is the best player to bring in."

Yet he never starts. Not many clubs have more than three strikers.

We only have two and loaned out our third, Chelsea have three, United sold Welbeck to sign a third, Liverpool have three, etc.

Not many regularly play two upfront. Four strikers is a must for us.

FWIW I'd say Jovetic is more an attacking midfielder than a striker anyway.

Yes he never starts, in the whole couple of weeks he's been here. Don't shoot your load before you've got her pants off.

Baines, Cahill, Gibbs, Jagielka, Jones, Shaw, Smalling, Walker, Barkley, Townsend, Walcott, Welbeck have barely been good enough for a decent premier league team this season let alone an international one.

No Bertrand in the squad is baffling.

Interesting article on teams spending and freshening up of best 11's since 2011.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...yers-2011-despite-spending-whopping-327m.html
Its a misleading (I would say dishonest) article. It was also ripped off directly from Mark Ogden in the Telegraph who seems to only write pro united and anti city articles,

They have compared our team from the end of the 11/12 season to now to say that there have only been two changes. But they've counted our spending from the summer of 2011 in the £327m.

It's either spending £327m since the start of the 2011/12 season and have added Clichy, Demichelis, Fernandinho, Nasri and Aguero to our best XI. I'd also have Navas in instead of Dzeko, but Pellegrini would disagree with me.

Or stick with the two first XI players story, but provide the correct gross spend of around £76m less.

FWIW players signed since summer 2012 have started 169 games for us so far this season. Doesnt make for a good story though.

Welbeck might not score, but works hard and adds a lot off the ball IMO
