For me it should be on a 50/50 with the supporters clubs outside the country. It would shock people quite a bit how skewed the results would be. Probably just as many overseas Leeds United & Newcastle fan clubs as there is Chelsea
Chelsea is small time world wide. I'd eat my hat if some new and accurate way to find out world wide global support had them in front of Liverpool.

Liverpool and United are clearly the two ahead of everyone else when it comes to world wide support. Arsenal follows those. Chelsea might be big in Russia but I wouldnt say they have much of a lead in terms of world wide stuff over clubs like Newcastle, Leeds, Spurs, City, Everton etc.

Chelsea has gained significant support around the world in recent years. I think you'd be surprised just how much.

Their support has definitely grown. Think about anyone probably 8 years old up when FIFA 2004 was out and they were one of the best teams in it then and every year since. They'll get kids who just play without knowing a thing who grow to support them more and more over time.

That being said, that is still not a drop in the ocean of the global support of Liverpool!

Exactly. Of course Chelsea have blown up since Roman came in. Their global support is growing all the time. But drop in the ocean stuff indeed.

but how do we actually know that?

we sit in australia or england for the most part and just presume who and or what trends and stuff are in other countries for the most part.

i for one have no idea how people in other countries follow teams. in england and here it's sporting sin to change teams. i have no idea if it's more common or accepted in other countries. they go a few years without success, do they jump?

I'd be absolutely stunned if teams like Newcastle & Leeds had as many supporters as we do. I can say right now I see a hell of a lot more Chelsea shirts around the streets of Melbourne than I do either of those two clubs.

Like I said. No doubt there are more Chelsea shirts worn around the world. But I'd say about 3% of those wearing them will in their life time make any concerted effort to watch their team play. It's just a brand to them that they wear and have little affinity towards compared to the surprising high levels of support the so called lesser clubs like Newcastle have.

Look at it like this. If for whatever reasons Roman's billions left the club and they suffered relegation the support for the club would drop by more than half! Newcastle's never wavered. So if you really count the "like" who jumps ship once the trophies stop then yes Chelsea will have more than a Newcastle, but of real support I'd say no

This isn't an attack or comment on the Chelsea lads on here who obviously do support the club. But unfortunately the vast majority of this "Global Fanbase" don't share that level of passion or support. You just don't get the sense that the reasonably high Global Fanbase Liverpool have would drop off at all, Arsenal's not a great deal either.

I suspect if any side got relegated they'd lose a lot of international support.

Think its a bit of a myth that Chelsea supporters are more prone to it than anyone else.

But I guess until it happens we'll never know.

We aren't a small club anymore, seems thats making a few salty. If Roman was to leave he's got us set up now we're we'd keep sailing now on the same course.

And seriously, every club has plastic fans to suggest we have some monopoly on it is just stupid. Plus it seems like a small minded insult anyway.

Rooney is a fantastic player. Especially when playing up front.

Great assist for Sterling.

Not much opposition though. If England keep there foot on the pedal they should score 5 or 6.

Welbeck also very good.

Carrick makes a big difference to the England side as well.

I deno why Delph started to be honest. Hasn't been exactly chopping for Villa.

Chelsea have a massive following in Asia Jod. India too. Remembering we are talking about regions that represent a significant amount of the world's population. The majority in fact.

There is plenty of room for a number of clubs to have huge support in those areas.

Not too sure about that. Without player sales Chelsea would have made a £47millon loss.

Not every season you are going to have David Luiz, Juan Mata, Kevin De Bruyne etc to sell.

Pre-success Chelsea had nothing compared to what Liverpool have now or even in the 90s when they weren't close to their best. The support has come with success I'll grant that and they're a well known club. But without the success Kim in Korea or Sanjit in India would soon be wearing United or Liverpool red.

Also Harry Kane taking the piss on international stage too now. What would he have done with 90 mins against an average Lithuania side

You cant really say that, without those player sales we wouldnt have needed purchases too, so we wouldn't have lost £47m.

We've been pretty good for the last 5 or so with a net spend of around £60m over that time. Marina and Michael run a pretty tight ship nowadays.

Its a pretty no brainer that success breeds support, it's why United and Pool have so many followers.

I'm not trying to stir shit but I've always seen it written that United, Barca and Madrid are way out in front of everyone else but it's Arsenal that comes closest to them.

Would people agree in saying Liverpool would be the most supported club in Australia? The Harry Kewell factor would have played a huge hand in driving up those numbers when so many new fans flocked to the sport after WC qualification in 05 IMO.

Chelsea fans are teenagers or glory hunters. The Liverpool fanbase pretty much stopped completely. Unless the middle aged Pool fans can jib their poor kids into supporting them.

That's true. In junior football I see mostly Arsenal and Chelsea shirts or Real Madrid and Barca

"just don't get the sense"... Well, I'm sold :thumbsu:. Good to see all the research you did to reach that conclusion.

Chelsea are as entrenched in the International Footballing market as any. It's utterly absurd to think otherwise. Some of the stuff you've said there is just rubbish.
