It makes absolutely no sense that Bale would end up at Arsenal.

Based on what? Do you have a Crystal ball? Can you foresee every instance that could possibly arise?

Footballers will do whatever is in their best interest. Their loyalty extends no further than their paycheck.

What if Bale decided he wanted to move back to London ala Fabregas? What if for whatever reason Chelsea weren't interest/Couldn't sign him? Then what is he going to do?

Go back to Tottenham? Sure, now figure out how you'll afford the transfer fee and convince him to take a 200,000 a week paycut.

Hmm, maybe because you have about 12 players to fill your attacking 3 and complete gush through the middle and down back in comparison?

Maybe because Spurs can afford his wages, and actually have plenty of money - but don't throw it around unless we really want to.

Or possibly because his dream was playing in Spain, but he considers Cardiff as his home?

And how do you know Bale would go to Arsenal under any circumstances? He loves Spurs, he could play for any side in the world and believes that North London is white.

Arsenal signing Bale is about as much of a joke as us thinking we could actually re-sign him. He’d go to both Manchester clubs and Chelsea if he was to leave Spain. I get they’ve been making a statement signing AMs in the last couple of seasons but even Sanchez isn’t on close to the £300k a week Bale is on at Real.

His boyhood club? Are you sure?

You know who that is on the left, yeah?

Holy bovine!

The Premier League has sold television rights to its games for a record £5.136bn, 71% above last time.

Sky paid £4.2bn for five of the seven TV packages while rival BT paid £960m for the other two in the record TV rights auction. The deal will run for three years from 2016.

100m pounds to the 20th placed team. Ridiculous. FA HAS to bring in a regulation on ticket prices. Tickets should immediately reduce to a cap of 20 quid a ticket I reckon.

It's terrible for the difference between the championship and the PL though. It's really got out of control.

Genuinely fear for the future of the game if it keeps going at this rate.

There REALLY needs to be a much heavier trickle down to the Championship.

He's right. You probably aren't aware of it because you don't need to be but it can't really keep going the way it currently is.

Think he was just making fun of the capitlisation of really.

I think with the new deal the key priorities are:
- Cap ticket prices at a reasonable amount
- Have a percentage of the revenue allocated to each of the C'ship, League 1 and League 2

Blown away by this. That is an absolutely enormous increase on the last deal which was already a game changer for the Premier League in itself. Amazing that just 3 years ago the league winner could expect to pocket around £60m, yet in this latest deal the team that comes 20th will receive £40m more than that! That sort of growth over such a short period is phenomenal, and will no doubt result in a far higher calibre of player coming into the league.

You'd hope that a lot of this is set aside for youth development, grass roots football and making ticket prices more affordable but I'll believe it when I see it. As long as the demand is there and stadiums continue to be sold out week after week, I can't see the prices dropping too much.

This graphic showing the current deal shows just how much of a competitive advantage this next deal is going to be for English clubs relative to their European counterparts:

Pretty soon, I imagine you're going to see all of the best players in the world outside the top 2/3 clubs in each of these leagues looking to come and play in England which is great for us as spectators (or at least those who can afford to watch it!).

Sucks for La Liga that Real and Barca get such a leg up. Amazing effort from Atletico that they can not only be competitive but actually win the league with the financial handbrake that they have.

If the EPL TV deal was structured in the same way, Liverpool and City would have received £260m each last season. Just ridiculous and completely unsustainable for Spanish football. You watch as all the talent outside the big 2 clubs is sucked out of that league and into the now cashed up mid-lower table EPL sides over the next few years, and see if the other La Liga sides don't start making more substantive threats (ie boycotting and actually following through with it).
