Apart from City I've been to a few Stockport games, and for the past couple of years I've tried to get to maybe hakf a dozen Altrincham games each season.

Including cups and pre seasons I've probably averaged a bit under 30 City games a season. Used to go to a lot of aways but not so much since the kids came along..

Used to go to a lot of kids and reserves games too (remember watching an U16's game and looked up to see Peter Schmeichel standing next to me watching Kasper) but maybe only 3 or 4 a season now.

I saw about 15 games last season, greatest trip of my life. :)

When we got promoted I thought it may be now or never to actually get to see Hull play at the top level, so made plans to head over. Got a season ticket to help with the home games, as the period I was going over for included home games against Liverpool, Chelsea, United, and Spurs. Also emailed the club for help with away tickets, as those included Arsenal and Liverpool.

Club got back to me after I managed to email the right guy and said they'd help out, got guaranteed tickets to Arsenal and Liverpool.

Got over there and the first game I watched was against Liverpool at the KC. Now, we had lost 1-0 to Palace the previous week, when Palace hadn't won a game all season, and we had never beaten Liverpool in a competitive match, so I didn't have high hopes. The walk to the KC was the most surreal feeling, because I was walking to my team's home ground in a city I had never been in before. People all around me were chatting about the team and it just felt crazy that there was this whole city of people who followed my team. Got to the game, settled into my seat, and before my eyes Hull beat Liverpool 3-1. It was absolutely nuts. If we had lost every game after that my trip still would have been brilliant.

Another massive highlight was watching Hull beating Fulham 6-0 after it had been 0-0 at half time. Huddlestone scoring to get his haircut was amazing and the crowd was just absolutely nuts. Having that sort of scoreline in one half from two sides in the lower echelons of the table is surely not going to be repeated any time soon.

Also got to our FA Cup game against Southend where Phil Brown is now manager. Crowd was chanting his name all game, making fun of the song he sang when we stayed up in 08/09, and he loved it , waved at us, etc. during the game. Fryatt scored a couple of fantastic goals and it was great having been to an FA Cup game on THAT run to the final.

Through a friend who knew the niece of one of our assistant coaches, I managed to meet said Assistant Coach who took me out on the pitch, into the rooms, met Jelavic, met Chester and Dudgeon, met Windass, got a shirt signed by the entire squad pre-Spurs match. Absolutely brilliant day. Marketing manager at the club went nuts when learning that I was from Australia and had a season ticket at my age, and offered me free away tickets for the rest of the season and said if I were to come back I'd get a free Season Ticket.

Also caught the United-Sunderland League Cup SF where Sunderland won after a terrible penalty shoot out, QPR-Blackburn's 0-0 draw in the Championship, and Everton's 2-1 win over Southampton at Goodison (ironically Ramirez scored for Southampton).

All in all a pretty fantastic trip. I wrote a blog about it that I have somewhere.

Would have been perfect if you caught up with moomba for a beer :)

30 years today since the Bradford City Fire which claimed 56 lives. Shocking tragedy, the video below shows just how quickly it spread. 3 minutes from embers to a raging inferno engulfing the entire stand, they didn't stand a chance.

That Bradford video (if it's the same one I've seen) is painful to watch. Few accusations flying around at the moment that it was deliberately lit, either way it was a truly shocking event.

Wooden stands were a death trap. Doubt it was lit on purpose. Stunning how quickly the fire took hold.

If opposition supporters don't bark every time he touches the ball for the rest of his career then football banter is dead.

I want to hear renditions of "who let the dogs out" woof, woof woof woof" from the terraces :)

Closing night of famous west end show...

Culture won out. Going to closing night of Cats rather than the alternative fc united vs Workington. Anyway. I got football tomorrow.
Bring on arsenal vs ChelseaChelsea

Truly horrific that. Did some research on it a couple of years ago. Doesn't get the same coverage as Hillsborough but equally as sad imo. No person should ever go to a sporting event, never to return.

It's an incredible video. Fire is truly a scary thing. We forget sometimes. You see when it first starts, people still arent properly moving away. They keep their distance but they are kinda watching it. They dont realise how much danger they are in. Then in the blink of an eye EVERYTHING is on fire and people are running and screaming. It's terrible.

No matter how times I've seen that video, its still extraordinary viewing. How quickly that fire spreads is damn scary.

jd2010 has a heap.

I saw Port Vale vs Torquay in Stoke. For a Division 2 game, it was heaps of fun. Crowd of about 6,000 and the atmosphere was great.
Countless Spurs games. The 5-3 over Chelsea I thought couldn't be topped but the Harry Kane show against Arsenal took the cake. Cup final at Wembley although the result wasn't good, was a great day. Quite a few boring England games at Wembley

Went to a few Liverpool games. Gerrard's last Merseyside derby at Anfield when he scored was surreal.

A few Brentford games which were great fun. Some boring Fulham and QPR games thrown in there too.

In Europe I went to see Spurs @ Fiorentina which was a good couple of days in a great city. PSG game at home against Nice was very enjoyable. They were a joy to watch (espeically Lucas & Zlatan). I speak no french but loved the atmosphere there. Went to Real vs Espanyol in Madrid and I tell you what the Madrid fans are a miserable ungrateful lot. Bale scored and then missed a 1-on-1/pass to CR7 and was jeered throughout

Pretty big fan of Gary Neville (the pundit version anyway) but the irony of this comment is pretty funny.

Wouldn't the fact Neville mentioned the Entertainers imply they were at least remembered? I mean it was only 19 years ago. :$

Gary Neville says nobody remembers Newcastle United's Entertainers team

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville hits out at Kevin Keegan's Newcastle United team 19 years after they nearly won the Premier League title

Gary Neville has taken a swipe at Newcastle United’s old Entertainers team – by claiming nobody remembers them.

Of course, it was Neville and Manchester United who clawed back a 12-point lead in 1996 to take the Premier League title after the Magpies had led the way for the majority of the season.

But Neville has been comparing the current Chelsea side to Newcastle with the Blues on the brink of winning the title.

He said: “It’s absolute nonsense (calling Chelsea boring).

“People called the Newcastle team of 1996 with Kevin Keegan exciting but they were exciting losers – nobody remembers them now.

“The fact of the matter is that people remember winners.

“People will remember this Chelsea team.

“They were exciting earlier in the season, the style was good.”

Perhaps he means that nobody could name members of the team? I assume Shearer was there and maybe Given in goal, but I don't think I'd be able to name many other of the XI. Probably says more about my football knowledge than anything, but I guess that might be his point.
