Actually more amusingly, since the rankings are an average based on the weighting of the matches you play, theoretically speaking you can lose ranking points despite winning all your games. Sometimes the best way to improve your ranking is not to play at all.

That's why ELO ratings are so much better. You aren't penalised for winning games and it takes into account teams playing different amounts of games.

You know what's ironic? The FIFA Women's rankings uses Elo, or at least a modified version of it.

While it does work well for the most part, there are some situations where teams will avoid playing games if certain important events come up, all to protect their ranking (or they could 'tank' games with clearly inferior opposition to reduce their rating). Namely for seeding purposes, and well, the Nations League, which as discussed in the Owners topic, can lead to some unfortunate implications.

(Basically: San Marino has more chance to qualify for the World Cup than the majority of African nations and has more chance to qualify for the Euros than potentially Switzerland and Austria thanks to how the Nations League works. Alright, San Marino is a bit much, but how about Latvia, Estonia, or Lithuania? One of those nations is guaranteed a spot for Euro 2020 and WC 2022.)

I'm not really in favour of the idea of club's playing regularly at Wembley but doesn't really impact me either.

Hopefully if Chelsea or Spurs do get the right to use the stadium, the money they pay for the right is distributed to the lower leagues or something like that. Would be nice to see something like that happen IMO.

Yeah, I don't think it's going to take any 'gloss' off Wembley as it's the actually game not the venue that makes it special(just like the MCG and finals).

Many feel that playing FA Cup semi finals at Wembley devalues the final. I'm in that camp but i don't care too much. Well done to Chelsea for getting a deal done so they can upgrade their stadium.

Just saw on the yellow ticker on SSN, Spurs new stadium will have a capacity of 61,000, a retractable roof and will host two NFL games a year.

Swansea City are to subsidise the price of every ticket for all away fixtures in thePremier League this season.

The club intends that no adult will pay more than £22 for any away fixture this season, while concession prices will be capped at a maximum of £15 and kids at just £10.

With adult ticket prices at some grounds costing in excess of £50, the club estimates its subsidy will amount to a £300,000 saving for supporters across the 2015-16 campaign.

“The club was very proactive on its away supporters initiative last season,’’ said the Swans vice-chairman Leigh Dineen. “We worked hard on reducing away ticket prices for our supporters last season through reciprocal deals with other clubs. Unfortunately, we were unable to finalise deals with all the clubs for different reasons.

“Therefore, while we introduced other away fan benefits, we felt it would be more beneficial to our supporters if we took the step of guaranteeing them cheaper tickets for all our away games, whether there was a reciprocal deal in place or not.’’

According to the club website, a recent study showed that Swansea fans travelled further than any others in the Premier League last season, clocking up 4,129 miles at an average of 217 miles per trip.

Probably right Lat but would be nice to see. If the reported cost is only 300k, the huge TV revenue clubs make should easily cover something similar.
