does anyone else feel burnt out by football?

Definitely felt it. Toon have been a huge struggle for a few years now. Endless bad decisions from the hierarchy, players who don't seemingly don't care, heavy defeats and non competitive efforts, useless managers (bar Rafa) with the same old lies they trot out, no cup runs...Can't even look forward to the derbies (next season might be a breath of fresh air). Relegation scraps and now (another) relegation. I just hope we can win a few games like we did last time in the championship. That would be a welcome change.

Even my other sides in the Jets (A League, wooden spoon last season and missed finals AGAIN this year) and my non league side Forest Green (losing the playoff final) haven't really helped.

Has been tough to get excited about football truth be told!

At least you have Richmo... oh

what's been worse this season, supporting Chelsea and Freo or Newcastle & Richmond?

Got to be Chels and Freo. Both coming off season where they finished top of the table/ladder and turned to utter shit.

At least they were that high though.

Newcastle and Richmond are both big clubs that just regularly disappoint.

I'm excited about the transfer window and will be excited about the new season if LVG is not at United.

I'm pretty excited about the window too and Conte putting his stamp on this squad. This season was so shit but can't wait for the next one to start.

You wouldn't last long chef supporting one of the clubs outside the "big 4".

I think the league is changing. The top 4 or 5 will still be up there but they won't be having it their own way as much from now. You could make a case for 8 or 9 prem clubs finishing in the top 4 next season. Will you be able to cope if Chelsea fail again?

He supports the Bulldogs. I'm sure he'll be fine.

Are you stupid?

I'm a Dogs supporter for god sake, no one does heart break like us but I keep coming back for more.

I'm sure I'll survive if Chelsea have a few bad seasons. I was a supporter before Roman came a long so I do know what it's like not to be a sewn on top 4 side;)

There was a Chelsea before Roman? :D

To be honest, after Everton, I was pretty much done domestically. That right there was the prefect end to the season. It was clear that MD38 was going to be more relaxed and a bit of a love-in. By this point, I just want the good feelings to just sink in now, and reflect, knowing full well that we'll never ever be viewed the same again.

The funny thing is, I just can't wait for international football. Euros, Copa, Australia vs England, bring it! Internationals was where it was originally at for me, and now with Leicester players getting deeply involved with the contenders. It was just Mahrez at first, but now with Vardy and Drinkwater in, I feel like I can really throw my weight into a international tournament again (Mahrez wasn't that involved in 2014, and ever since Aloisi left, it just felt like something was missing from following the Aussies.) Who knows, this might be the only tournament that I get to see a Leicester player so heavily promoted on the European stage (Mahrez is lapping it up for Algeria as well), so I'm hopeful that Vardy (and Drinkwater) take England places it hasn't been to for a long time.

I just feel that if Vardy is on that pitch, things will happen, just like I did when Aloisi played for Australia. So... yeah, hopefully this will be fun.

I think if FSG conceded they know nothing about the game and find some real experience to run things football side instead they'd be better. The debacles the past few years have been them either trying to be experts when they are not or rely on the likes of Rodgers who aren't up to it or any more experienced. Appointing Klopp helps coz they can just let him run the show, but time will tell how it goes

Finance wise and everything non-football related FSG has done mostly quite well

Everything in hindsight, but 1 more win in 2014 and Rodgers becomes one of the best decisions the club has made in 25 years, and FSG look like geniuses for appointing him. Fine lines.

With managers as with players, too often the tendency is to label them as successes if they win a trophy or score 20 goals in a season, and failures if they fall short - even if by only a fraction.

He lost the players in the end and we needed to turf him and make a change, but I wouldn't look at his entire time at the club as a failure.

I do agree though that given their background it's essential they appoint astute 'football men' to key positions to drive our strategy going forward. There's been plenty of talk we're looking at bringing in a DoF and with Ian Ayre on the way out I wouldn't be surprised to see a change in the leadership structure.

He spent more than any other Liverpool manager, more well backed than any other Liverpool manager, and ended up leaving us a team that performed worse than the one he inherited. We can talk about fine lines but at the end of the day even if we didn't win the league we should not have capitulated the season after the way we did, it's on him.

It only matters what position the club's in when you leave the club and when he left we were definitely in worse shape than when he took over so it's a failure

Going over old ground here, but my position on this is that he lost the players, and didn't handle the departure of Suarez or the long term injury to Sturridge. For that, he deserves the blame for our poor performances last season and can have no complaints about being given the arse. But, if we're canning him for that season then we also have to give him his fair share of the credit for the previous season - the most exciting Liverpool side I've seen and the closest we've come to winning the league since Dalglish's first stint in charge.

He may not have been an outright success, but I don't think he was a failure either. Hodgson was a failure. Graeme Souness was a failure. Those guys took the club backwards from day 1. Rodgers at least went 1 step forward before he took a step back. That's why I don't think it's as clear cut as saying he was definitely a success or definitely a failure.

As for leaving the club in a worse position, the team he left is about to play off in a European final. So he's got that going for him, which is nice.

He threw everyone under the bus to save himself, of course he's gonna lose them. And his whole spinny BS about us deserving to finish 5th coz we're the 5th richest (even though he took us to 6th), thank goodness Leicester came on to smash all that rubbish apart. He was dragging the club down to his mediocre level

It's gonna go over old grounds with the whole magic of both Suarez and Sturridge together, particularly Suarez. If we're gonna acknowledge the way Suarez took this current Barca side to a whole new level then we have to acknowledge the bulk of the work he did in that brilliant side. The first half of the season he had like 19 goals and 12 assists on his own, it was a player at the height of his powers and the side spearheaded by him. Rodgers himself is doing a bit of a George Burley tbh

If the only way you can make yourself look alright is by comparing with Hodgson and Souey then you're ****ed

Rafa got that fractured Houllier squad to a European Cup, it's more the ability of Jurgen Klopp as a manager than anything to do with Rodgers. Heck, Rodgers keeps blaming the committee and how the players aren't his, so he shouldn't take any credit for what the squad's doing now by his own logic
