The England job is one of the highest paying and highest profile managerial positions in the game. There are literally dozens of managers who England could get to replace Roy. I doubt there's a single club in the Premier League who; if given the choice, would swap their current manager for Roy. That should tell you all you need to know.

I highly doubt it. In the US you cop massive fines and imprisonment. From all reports, Messi's dad is taking the fall for him anyway.

Certainly he did better than Bruce, but he has had a run at Liverpool and at England to prove he could manage higher profile teams and, so far, he has at best, managed to get slightly better team results than he got with Fulham and West Brom. England seem happy with this as they don't get dumped embarrassingly from competitions. I would rather see more of the 'never say die' attitude in the English team that you see in PL games, and I would love to see someone take advantage of the fact they can choose any English player to make a more successful team. Woy is about to get yet another chance to show he can do that, but his selection of predictable players, many of whom have injury clouds not far from their horizon... it will either be the culmination of everything he has been working towards, or a repeat of the sitting and hoping that individual brilliance will unlock the later sections of the tournament.

The clubs all seem to have managers well suited to them with only the clubs placed from 10-13 - Chelsea, Everton, Swansea, Watford - seemingly looking for the more attacking/possession-based 'modern' manager that Woy is not. But one of the three promoted clubs might be interested.

West Brom of course could want him back, but Pulis and the Baggies is just an admittance by both of them of who they truly are.

Sunderland seem happy with Sam. Why wouldn't they be after he bought well and rescued them for relegation?

But, yes, "if they sacked their current manager" then a lot of clubs would be looking for safe hands.

A little bit but it's certainly nothing to write home about. They still only had a 37% win rate under Roy (31% under Pulis). But Pulis has only lost 3 more games than Roy, despite managing 13 more games.

Pulis might win a bit less, but he doesn't lose as much either.

I'm talking style and success. Hodgson managed Fulham to a Europa league final.

Yeah so that was really his only success at either side (albeit an impressive feat for Fulham).

I think he's really average outside of that run. Appointing him doesn't scream 'we want to move forward as a football club'.

As a side note, he's 2 games away from managing his 1000th game in charge through his career.

I dunno, he seems a PL manager - I can't see him managing Championship - but that said, didn't realise he was basically 70 so he's probably done.

That comes back to the point though, people are only keen to manage internationally at the end of their careers, so there aren't that many who'd jump at the chance to manage England I don't think.

Yeah I'd agree with that. It's why I never thought Rodgers would be keen so young. Arry is the only other one in that boat really. Unless Wenger wanted a crack at it after Arsenal but I reckon he'd just retire tbh.
