That would be fine if it was true but it's not.United wouldn't have become the club it is today without spending more than what it earned in the early 90's.
I think all football clubs should be allowed to invest, especially when the financial rewards for improving your squad are so big. But there needs to be safeguards to protect clubs and supporters.
Not too bothered about sponsorship rules, they seem to work fine as they are.

When Etihad started their sponsorship deal with Eithad, it was woefully overvalued. You can argue that it is undervalued now though.
PSG is the biggest example of this though.
