There wouldn't be anywhere near the levels of public dissent by supporters if they thought their clubs listened to them or cared about their opinion just a little bit.

Not saying clubs should poll supporters whether to sack the manager or not but we are really treated like mushrooms nowadays.

I think we've always been treated poorly. I guess they don't herd us in pens anymore like they used to when I first started going. With the money pouring in from TV they should cut prices also - but they almost never do

It doesn't have to be about on field decisions. Can just get fans more involved with other decisions and they'll find a much more receptive fan base even if the results aren't always the best

Have to say that, despite Moh persisting and forcing Neville into childish deflections, DT did seem to frame things the best out of everyone. He got right down to the crux of the issue.

Neville took things well and offered some good points, but I get the feeling he'll never really understand the common fan.

He kept coming back to "You shouldn't protest Wenger because he's the best you've ever had."

We ran into similar issues when a lot of fans got sick of Bruce towards the end. A large portion of our base argued against the criticism by saying "He's our best ever manager." It's as if some can't grasp the concept of "He's the best we've had but we want to do better so we improve in the future."

It's the same with Arsenal. Who cares if Wenger won the league with the Invincibles 15 years ago? That should mean squat when it comes to how he has the team performing over the last 3 seasons.

Yep this is pretty spot on. We should treat the manager in the same way we treat players, ie; if Thierry Henry was 40 years old, playing like shit and had become a liability to the team, we wouldn't keep him on just because he happens to be the best player we've ever had. Same should go for Wenger.

The best outcome for everyone would be for him to announce now that he is stepping down at the end of the season. The fans would stop their protests and unite behind him as the most successful manager we've ever had, and he could bow out gracefully which he deserves after everything he's done for the club.
