FA cups were big trophies 30 years ago. It's only in the last 15-20 years they lost their esteem. UEFA cup also before the CL expanded.

Now that we won a top tier title, I would really, really, like it if we can finally win the FA Cup and fill out that last missing spot in our English trophy case.

It still means a lot to some clubs, who have finished up runner up the most times without winning (4 times!)

I'll guess he's eluding to big clubs treating it as a chance to play reserve sides which is more prevalent than in the past. Certainly does give off the vibe that the bigger clubs treat it as an unnecessary distraction..... until they get close enough to win it.

I don't think as many do as some think, League Cup certainly cops it more. FA Cup you might see some squad rotation, but that's what a squad is for. Giving all 25 players some game time and starts to see what they can do isn't the worst thing and you still see some of the bigger clubs play strong teams.
