He may be starting the process of buying out his contract which he is able to do. Might be just easier for you guys to let him join Atletico for the 30m they are offering, this is becoming really messy for you guys.

Its not messy for us. Either soneone pays what we want or he'll go on loan. Diegos the one getting desperate.

AFAIK you have to notify the club in writing of your intent to do that within a week of the final game of the season.

Shouldnt involve lawyers.

Well no. If Costa has started the process he can buy out his contract because he is over 28 and has less than 2 years remaining on his contract. That's a long, drawn out legal process for Costa but would result in him leaving for the remaining value of his contract (16m). If he has started that process you guys would be nuts to drag it out and not just let him go for AM's offer. You aren't in a great negotiating position either with less than 2 years on his contract left and having told him repeatedly since the start of the year that he isn't wanted.

Surely you guys are better off just selling him to AM and moving on. Because they can't play him until January they won't budge on a fee which is understandable. This has the potential to be a huge sideshow like the Eva case was for Mou 2 years ago. Madness to not just put it to bed right now.

Loaned or sold he wont be at Chelsea come the end of the window. Its not really that big of a deal to me.

Well if he can't stump up the cash to buy himself out of his contract I doubt the courts will help him.
