maths must not have been Luis strong point if it was already gone at selhurst
It didnt matter if we won that game or not. All City had to do was win their last two games. Title was over.

Anyways, it was years ago now. Onwards and upwards.

We were never actually leading though unlike some who lead as late as May (or late April at the latest) and then it slipped away

Yeah but we lost out to a club operating on a blank cheque. You lost out to Leicester. Big difference. We got 37 out of 42 points from our last 14 games. I believe Spurs got around 24 out of their last 42- yours was definitelyt a bigger bottle job looking at the stats.

more and more players coming forward and admitting abuse as youngsters at the hands of coaches from multiple clubs.

could/should develop into a full investigation this. ex spurs, city and pool player paul stewart says that the victims could've climbed into the hundreds.

I'd go earlier. Anfield. That was must win and didn't.
That said we bottled 2nd not first.

Nah you bottled first. Bookies had you odds on favourites to win the title after round 27 with you guys 2 points behind Leicester who had just dropped points and you were on a hot winning streak. You were that confident of winning the league that you rested players against Dortmund.

You then managed a grand total of 16 points from your last 11 games. The End.

Don't care for your bookies argument. We never possessed first. The end.

Your last 11 games - 4 wins 4 draws 3 losses.

Our last 11 games - 9 wins 1 loss 1 draw.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out which team choked more chasing the title.

You lost to Leicester. The end.

You both wound up with nothing. So neither of you are better than the other.

You're both losers.

Liverpool's loss to Hull is an underrated aspect of that title loss. We were the lowest team they lost to when they were flying, but it was at the end of November so it gets forgotten.

We werent really flying at that point. In fact I think it was right after that when we stormed December and sat top on Xmas day but then had back to back losses to Chelsea and City, both away, both 2-1 IIRC. We dropped off the top heading into January.

Then started to storm it. Then fell just at the line.

Ah well, hopefully we win it this year!

And what if you don't? Hope springs eternal and all that, but it's also what kills you in the end. I don't think Liverpool will end their drought this year.

Looks like football is gearing up to have it's own BBC/Saville investigation.

Sometimes I wonder how I got through the 70's and 80's unscathed when all this shit comes to light.

well it sounds like if you avoided celebrities and coaches that was the way to go.

You can add us to the list unfortunately. :(

Though it would seem (from reports) that these allegations relate to Ormond (alleged offender) prior to his stint as our youth team coach (was convicted for some of those in 2002).

The escalating story of sexual abuse in football is now threatening to take in Newcastle United after a former player contacted the police to allege he was another victim on the back of growing concerns about a possible paedophile ring in the sport.

The ex-player, whose identity is known to the Guardian, has named George Ormond as the offender, claiming that he was sexually abused by a man who has already had a six-year prison sentence for a string of convictions involving boys from the club’s youth system over a 24-year period.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/nov/24/george-ormond

The club have already released a statement saying they'll offer full cooperation with the authorities which is good to hear. But yeah you're right, this could be potentially huge - maybe just the tip of the iceberg if more players are going to come out with their own experiences.
