Have to see the figures but I suspect there was a big jump with the emergence of money bags clubs.
I'd say it would be more in line with the increases in TV money.

£51m a year from 1992-97. Sutton had 1.83% of that.

It's now £2.748bn. Pogba has 0.8% of that.

Can't blame us on that one, although the Agueeeerrrrrrrooooo moment in the lead up to negotiations did add a few quid to the 13-16 TV deal by all accounts.

As a historical comparison I more meant, I reckon they're actually lower now. Think I saw a stat that Pogba isn't even United's biggest signing in terms of fee as a percentage of their turnover.
Rooney, Seba and RVN cost more I think

£30m about 3 yeas ago i think.

United blew that out of the water with a £75m deal.
United lose 30% of that deal if they miss out on UCL qualification next season I think. Would make Chelsea's the biggest if that occurs.

Yep. And as we did with Adidas we'll renegotiate or go elsewhere you'd think.
Without knowing the contract, I doubt it's as easy as just walking away. There'd probably be a buyout figure or something wouldn't there?
