Why does that matter? It was the same story when he was playing regularly too.

In LVG's first year our win ratio was 35% without Carrick and 72% with him in the side. That sort of contrast in the quality of our performances with and without him was clear even when SAF was still at the club.

It doesn't particularly matter, but you would expect someone that plays against weaker teams to win more games than one that plays in the big games against the strongest sides. You would expect United to win most of the games he's started if not all.

IMO he was once a very effective player, but has been past it for a few years now. Still useful as a squad player, but that's about it.

Fair enough. My point was just that those sort of statistics of us being a much better team with Carrick playing have been consistent throughout his United career and usually games against the top sides are where he is of most value as he's such a calming influence. Even now when he's deemed past it he's still far and away our most influential player when he does play.

If he's only going to play 20 games a season then they should all be in the Prem against the top 10 sides.

I think Carrick in a two with ______ wouldnt work. Not enough legs or defensive presence. In a three with another CM or AM could be effective.
