The Telegraph is reporting he's mulling up whether to play on somewhere else, accept a coaching or ambassadorial role at Chelsea or a pundit role on Sky.

Surely it'd be China or Aus if he played on, and Aus makes sense with the links with the group. Dunno if Melb City could afford him though.

Reckon that's him done then? He's obviously not enjoyed his time over there if he's already leaving.

Must be disappointing if you were a NY fan that was looking forward to watching him play...

he played 31 games, scored 15 and assisted 3.

his contract ended and he is 38. expect to see the same happen with pirlo around this time next year too when his contract runs out.

He also played a season with Man City instead of NY didn't he?

31 NY games isn't much over a 2 (?) year contract.

Perhaps he might give the Indian Superannuation league a crack. It's even on Foxtel.

he got injured for the start of the 2nd season he was there. he basically played the same amount of games as gerrard (if he does end up leaving too)

Not about whether we could afford him. City have no international or marquee positions left for this season so they wouldn't be able to fit him in. Doubt he will end up in Australia, but if he did it will be under the guest marquee rule which will see the FFA pick up a large part if his contract.

i dont think lampard plays again. sky have already used him as a pundit occasionally, think he has said he wants to get into coaching and there will always be a spot at chelsea and city if he wanted to get involved with either in any capacity.

Let's just stop for a second here. With all due respect to the a league but why the **** would he want to finish his career in Aus?

Unless there's a hidden long standing want to play in summer or live in Melbourne or Sydney a player of that caliber really doesn't end their career in Australia. ADP should be the exception not the norm with marquees in the a league.

Pretty sure the retirement pathways are

Main European league -> Turkey -> Arab league
\_> USA -> Australia
\_> China
Think China has us covered.

We are less of a joke than the Indian league but in terms of pay we can't compete with anywhere else. Should be aiming for the 26-32 year olds who still are close to their best not the marquees
