Swiss Football Observatory CIES calculate value based on a number of criteria, including ability, age, nationality, form, length of current contract, club, latest actual transfer price and status; and Sport English used CIES’s value tool to collate the Top 50 you’ll see below.

This is why you’ll see 24-year-old Neymar has taken over 29-year-old Lionel Messi as the world’s most ‘valuable’ player!

Liverpool have two representatives, with Coutinho (€75m) named as the 12th most valuable player in the world, ahead of Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.

Did Liverpool sign Romelu's brother Jordan to replace Moreno at LB? And if so, that's some real jod-like overrating having him worth 48m!

Not sure that's true when Donnarumma is ahead of Courtois. :D

Fair enough i didnt give it enough attention. Just wanted to laugh at FAITH:D

When youve got guys like Pogba worth more than Aguero/Hazard/Kane/Sanchez/Coutinho (and 40m too) not sure it holds much weight to me.

It never held any weight with me. Players are worth what clubs are willing to pay for them. That's how capitalism works.

It's merely numbers picked out of thin air probably in line with how the author values and ranks players.

Fair enough. I initially assumed it was a list of the top scorers over their last 70 games rather than a selected list of goal scoring records over that time period.
Someone asked a stats guru for it and 70 games was selected because that's how long it took Kane to reach 50 goals apparently, more a measuring stick to see where he is, the original had Andy Carroll merely to troll Hammers fans (22 goals) also :D

it's a most valuable list based on the entire year. pogba was an absolute monster when he left juventus. he's also a marketing machine. he's also younger and would cost a hell of a lot more than that to move him from utd regardless.

it's not a who's the best list, it's what players hold the most value. performances do come into it but pogba is basically the face of adidas right now in europe. hazard was, quite frankly, a bit shit before this season begun too.

Fair enough, i took it to mean playing wise not all that other stuff.

And yep. Hazard did have a pretty shit season last season.

Will be interesting to see how much Kelechi ends up with after 70.

Currently 11 from 35 but the bulk of those have been 5-10 sub appearances. Only 10 starts so far.
